I'm attempting to reformat a netbook which currently Encompasses:

* Processor Type: VIA ARM 32bit CPU
* Processor Clock Speed: 300M Hz
* Processor/Manufacturer: VIA
* Processor Model: VIA-ARM VT8500
* RAM/Technology: DRAM
* RAM Installed Size: 128M
* Display Diagonal Size: 7" TFT HD
* Max Resolution: 800x480
* Display Technology: TFT
* Graphics Type: Integrated Graphics
-----------------------------
* Hard Drive Type: NAND Fast Flash
* Hard Drive Capacity: 2GB
* Hard Drive Spindle Speed: NAND Fast Flash
* PCMCIA Expansion: 1x SDCard slot

Existing OS = Windows CE "Which SUXXX!!!!"

My goal is to reformat the HD with a slim distro of LINUX !!! (perhaps PUPPY, or Jolicloud) either one I believe should be significantly better than what its working with now.... Periviously, I had many insightful tips regarding bypasing the factory set password to access the Formating menu within the bios, Many Thanx to all whom helped me traverse that issue:clap:

Now, Which takes me to the scope of this posting... Which is simply how do I go about formating a solidstate NAND HD?? the menu is as follows:

Exactly like the Wii.

The NAND is basically an expanded CMOS from my understanding. Formatting it should be the same as clearing CMOS... i.e. it should just restore factory settings. I think what YOU want to do is format Flash1 or Flash2. (Flash1 may be what they have labeled as the XIP disk... though I'm not familiar with the term.)

I would format Flash 2 myself.
