Hey guys,
I'm interested in adding one Sata 6GB/s port to my computer. I'll be using it with an OCZ Vertex SSD.
I'm EXTREMELY unsure as to what I'm supposed to be getting here and if I can even do what I want to :b Looking through Newegg's expansion cards, I don't know any of the brands and they all look the same to me.
Grace me with your knowledge, OCForums. (please)

Unless your vertex is a 6gbs drive, or your seeing a bottleneck on your current setup. Your probably not going to see much difference if any at all. As far as I know putting a 3gbs drive on a 6gbs card doesn't gain anything.

What about a 6gbs disk on a 3gbs port? I saw the new velociraptors and didn't know if that would work?

If there is backwards compatibility then yea it'll work but only at SATA II speeds.

You could consider the Marvell based cards like HighPoint backwards compatibile with the previous Sata Standards and available in Raid version too

Unless you have a new based SSD that is actually taking advantage of the SATA3 standard your not going to see a benefit. There is 1 drive on the market that can utilize SATA3 so unless you have it, its not worth it yet. Even if the HDD's say that can use it, they are no where near the cap of SATA2, and just getting ready to hit SATA1's cap if they haven't already.
