SOLVED Same pumps?

Unless things have changed the MCP-655 is slightly different from the D5. Yes, Laing makes all three of them but if I remember correctly from older reviews the MCP-655 has a different circuit board and is a hair quieter than the D5.

I don't know if the Koolance unit is just a re-badged D5 or if it also has some minor modifications. Either way the main components are Laing so the basic quality is there. :)

PS
You linked the Koolance equivalent of the MCP-655B (fixed speed). The Koolance PMP-450 (no S) is the variable speed pump. Same price.

The MCP-655B is only $67 at Sidewinder's:

The MCP-655 is also much cheaper at $77:

Yep, I like the MCP-655 pumps and try to keep up on any thread that mentions them - especially threads talking about variations or non-normal use, like dual pump loops or long restrictive loops. :)

I am assuming, based on the PQ graph and specifications on the MCP-655B page at Sidewinder's, that the 'B' stands for "Basic", as in the fixed speed model. As I recall, and as your link verifies, the MCP-655B is just an MCP-655 with a fixed speed of P4. Laing may have different labeling system, I don't know, I've stuck with Swiftech labeling and badging ... ;)
