View Full Version : Is this good?
My entire rig all folding at once gets 15k PPD. I have an 8800gt, 8800gts 512mb, and an I5 670 at 4.425 GHZ.
The 8800gt gets 4k PPD, the gts gets 5k, and the CPU SMP gets 6K. Running 1700 shaders on the gt and 1900 shaders on the gts...stock core and memory clocks. Do core and memory clocks do anything? I heard not much if at all.
Looking good man. Yeah, only the shaders matter.
Good, just making sure those numbers are good for my rig. I have a gtx275 co-op on the way, so pretty soon I'll have 3 GPU's folding I should be well over 20k right? I'll have the gtx275, the gts250, and the 8800gts. The gts250 should do atleast 2k shaders, the gts does 1900, and the gtx275 has 240 SP's so even with less shaders it should really crank out the PPD right?
Edit- I now have 7101 points and I'm already in 344,572 place out of 1,396,953 in 2 days LOL. I must be doing something right!
Yeah, you'll be over 20K with that setup. A gtx275 should get around 8k PPD I think.
Sweet! I'll be well over 20k then, closer to 25k if I overclock my CPU some more. If I get 8k for the gtx275, 6k on the gts250, 5k on the 8800gts, and 6k on the CPU thats 25k!
What clock speed do you have your I7 at? And what kind of PPD does it pull? Just curious for a comparison.

The I7's doing -bigadv do 20k plus by themselves.

Mines at 3.8GHz and gets me about 27k PPD. I'm gonna be close to 50k PPD when my 9800GX2 gets here. :comp:
Yeah i7's are great because of the -bigadv's. For comparison though, I was running the windows smp client and was getting 17~18k PPD with it. Hyperthreading really makes a big difference. My E3110 only gets 3800 PPD, so 6K from your i5 is pretty good, but you could always sell it and get an i7. :D

Yeah well I'm kicking myself now for getting rid of my I7 860, and my I5 750. Hyper threading helps 25% on top of the physical cores. I've done extensive testing with the I7 and my old I3. And sure enough, I configured the SMP to run 2 cores instead of 4, and getting 4700 PPD now. I changed it because I was getting some lag while gaming, and instead of shutting it down while gaming running 50% still works good.
I'm thinking about putting up a trade deal, this I5 670 for an I5 750 straight up. I'm not super interested in benching anymore, would rather have more PPD. I would think an I5 750 would get me about 10K at 4ghz or so. Would I be able to run this bigadv with an I5 750?
I know how you feel. I've sold a 9800GX2 and a 8800GT that I wish kept for folding. As far as -bigadv's go, you can't do them with an i5. You need atleast 8 cores in order to get the bonus. i7's work since they have 8 when hyperthreading. I wish I could go into more detail, but I'm typing this from my phone and it sucks!
I also used to have a 9800gx2 and I LOVED it for gaming. Sure would come in handy now but the gtx275 co-op will pull a good bit more PPD than a GX2 anyway.
Ahh OK, just checking. LOL, no problem!
