is there a feature like EIST/C1E for these video cards?

for some reason, mine is stuck at 400 core clock, 799 shader clock, and 297 memory clock....it doesnt go up when i start a game or a 3d benchmark.

Are you using CPUz, GPUz or something like MSI Afterburner or Precision? Or are you using Nvidia Control Panel. I have learned that all of these report something different. EVGA Precision is the only thing I trust. It even uses Rivatuner. GPUz I believe reports the right values as well as Rivatuner if it supports your card.

If you never overclocked your card, those numbers are wrong, and it seems like your using the values from CPUz or Nvidia Control Panel.

im using MSI afterburner and gpuz to check them..and yes, i have OC'd my card via rivatuner, then msi afterburner when it came out
also, i know that its reporting right because i got an 11k 3dmark06 score, when last time i ran it i got 21k ....lol

Ok, sounds legit. Does MSI afterburner have a default button like Precision? If so, set back to default clocks. I believe Rivatuner also has an option to set default clocks. Then reboot your computer. It sounds like you changed the settings with Rivatuner after you Overclocked with MSI afterburner or vice versa. You are only supposed to change settings after a fresh reboot with GPU at default settings. If you try to downclock after overclocking but your clocks are already stock, it will actually lower your clocks. (I hope that made sense)

Edit: oh and 21k sounds very high? Even my i7 with SLI at 700/1450ish only gets 25k. Your not running SLI are you? Most single card scores are between 11-16k. Are you sure you didn't run 3DMark05 last time?

im 100% sure, and no, not in SLI

i uninstalled rivatuner and MSI afterburner, reinstalled, reoverclocked, and reran 06, ended up with 19327
EDIT: im retarded, and left on physx

ahhh, that sounds more like it. I am glad you found what went wrong.

WELL...i left to eat dinner, came back, and it downclocked again....i cant get it to go back to the normal clocks.

i swear, sometimes i think my computer is out to get me...anyone have any ideas as to why my GPU would downclock, and not return to its normal clocks while gaming?

not sure why yours would be stuck. but my 470 downclocks a little when not under a big load and when its idle it downclocks WAY down, but as soon as its gets a load put on it, the clocks go right back up

Reinstall the drivers. Problem solved (when this happened to me).

well, i reinstalled the drivers, and it seemed to work fine for a while there....after about half an hour playing need for speed shift, it started getting laggy...so i tabbed out, and the card had dropped back down to the same low clocks....this is awful weird.

Try a different set of drivers?????

tried 192.21 and 197.45

uninstalled drivers, reinstalled, and overclocked to 669/1070/1438

physx disabled

WOOT!!!

hard to read, but its an 18325 in 3dmark06
7943 SM 2
8102 SM3
CPU: 4924
CPUz validation http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1147106
21x160 turbo enabled...24x160-3840 max.

after i reinstalled the drivers, i installed evga precision, and OC'd the card...hasnt gone back to the low speed settings in over 24 hours, so i assume problem fixed.

well, the card is doing it again, and now its a clean install of windows 7 (installed it yesterday) so the drivers are new.......if i reinstall the drivers, the clocks go back to normal, but then go back to the reduced speed...without ever going back up : /

Would it be possible for the bios to throtle it down? cause ....thats pretty much all thats left, other than a defective part

maybe, but this card has been working fine for over a year now..and only started doing this about 5 months ago. if someone has one bookmarked, can someone link me a site that will walk me through flashing a new bios to the card? im going to go do some google searching for it as well

thanks guys

Hello all never been here before but here we go. It might be nearly 3 months since this topic has been touched on but Ive just been looking across the net for this exact same problem with my GTX260.
My games have been lagging for a while now and have only just dumped Smartdoctor and OSD Gamer on suggestion that could be the cause, Ive installed GPU caps viewer and Riva Tuner and off of these it appears the card is entering an idle state when 3D applications are launched.
According to GPU caps viewer the card is capable of the separate states, state 0,8 and 12 and state 8 has a core clock of 400MHz and the core clock when games are launched is 399MHz has anyone any idea on this.

The card has never been clocked always @ stock.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated *pulling hair out*

I had this problem when I first bought a gtx260. RMA'd it and then was fixed. Some 260's have faulty bios which force 2D speeds in 3D games. I think there's also certain old drivers that could work around it, but can't remember... maybe 192.40 or 195.40.

woo not the only one who's having this problem! Only started happening about 3 months ago or so, before then it was smooth sailing. Sometimes it seems to just get stuck at the lower clocks. Often doesn't clock up when trying to play a blu ray movie :( This computer in general is, like my sig says, pretty much dead anyway.

How is it dead? You just need new RAM and GPU, the rest is good.

How is it dead? You just need new RAM and GPU, the rest is good.

PCI slots are dead on mobo
1 of the PCI-E slots is dead on mobo
GPU VRAM is corrupt
2 of the RAM slots on the mobo are dead
Got the PSU replaced because it blew and did ^

And replacing stuff costs money... With paying rent, buying food, paying for electricity, paying for college books and paying for water I can't really afford anything. I think I have about £50 a month left over? Which is quite a bit considering but that goes straight to my local pub :p
