Heres a Diagram I drew up in Fireworks. Its for a car Mp3 player. Its whats in the middle of my car between the Driver and Passenger seats. but Im worried about mosture from the AC, are there any Gadgets I can use to monitor how much Mosture is building up? I also, dont know how Im going to kool it, with out using the AC ( ac Uses up gas, and Horse power) I dont want to cut holes on the sides. cause I eventualy wana sell it.

I don't have any suggestions on moisture, but perhaps an idea on the missing post: was it in General Hardware? I would think thats where this belongs.

-----Moved post to General Hardware-----

I didn't delete the last one but with over 170 posts, you should know hardware questions DO NOT belong in GD. Any and all others will be deleted on site.

GD is not a grey area for posting. If you are unsure and get close, we'll happily put it where it belongs best. If you are unsure so just decide to put it in GD, expect it to be gone.

Im not exactly sure I know what your wanting here... But if your worried about condensation on your parts there from the AC unit blowing on it, I dont think there would be much of a worry about it overall.

If I am remebering correctly, condensation is caused by a cold item being hit with hot air. Where it pulls the moisture out of the air and attaches it to the cold object.

Now as its running, I dont believe you would have any of those problems, now once the car has been shut off, and its hot outside, and they AC has been running on the unit for some time.. then there might be a possibility of it.

Im presuming that is what you were wondering? Im hoping... or I look like a real idiot....

well, Condesation happens ( from what I know) That between Difrent temperatures touching. Like cold Air Agenst something hot. Or Vice Versa. so If the componets get colder then the surrounding area, Condinsation happens. \

Im looking for some kind of Gadget to Monitor how much mosture is in the Box at any time. so I can fine tune how much AC I should push into the box.

I must ask: Why would you want to do this?

As of now, there is a pre-manufactured solution for playing mp3īs from a harddrive in your car. Itīs called mStation.

Or even better/cheaper: Buy a car stereo that can play Mp3-CDīs! Kenwood, Aiwa, JVC and Blaupunkt has such stereos. Fits right away in a standard single height DIN-outlet.

Check them out(german text):

Euro and dollar is about the same.

Henry.

There's no real method to avoid condensation in that type of application. Remember that cars are not air tight, so if you it rains, you'll have more moisture in the air, which will be eventually brought inside the car. Ever get into your car and the windows are all fogged up? Same thing principal. You could try making a sealed enclosure for the unit, that way it's only ever exposed to whatever moisture is in the air at the time you close up the unit.

How would I keep it cool, If I enclose it like that??? also, to ther person

That said I should buy one. HELLLOOO its not as fun as making it, thats pritty much the whole point. Why did you build a computer? why not go buy one, And those MP3-cd players STILL need CD's. also, If I had a DVD\CD Burner in the car, I can Burn CD's for people, where ever I am. so blah blah blah. Any of those units you can buy dont have the same Ability as a computer. GPS, DVD, VCD, so Find me something that can do what a computer can do, and be cheeper then building one, Tell me.

Well, I think you're nuts to go through the hassles of making a car cd burner/mp3 player:D , but being a DIY type myself, I understand: we get ideas of things we want to make OURSELVES!

So, that said, I did have an idea: build a mostly enclosed case, with 1 intake/ 1 exhaust fan, and use some type of dessicant that can be replaced or refreshed.

Some of the H2O cooling/ Extreme Cooling folks use this stuff on the wilder systems they make.

I read something about one kind that can be dried in an oven after it has been used a while, and then reused.

Might be worth a look; search the cooling threads for dry or dessicant because I know its in here somewhere!

Good luck!
