View Full Version : Seti on Two Computers

I've been trying to set SETI up onto two computers, under the same account. I have been using the screensaver version. When I log into a existing account they both crunch the same Wu.
Do I have to make two seperate accounts?
Is there a better way to do this?
It shouldn't be a problem. I run seti on many systems for the same account. Are the two systems on a local network? It would be best to use a caching program such as SETIQueue or SETIDriver to help keep you going when the Berkeley servers are down/overloaded anyway. :) We have direction on our website and I think at the top of this forum.

Just a suggestion: use the command line client(clc): much faster for most people.
I have a few:D computers crunching under my account and no trouble; when I first started a few years ago I used the gui version with 3 pcs and it worked fine, if a bit slow. I believe you get credit for the wus you crunch, even if you do actually get the same units: each work unit is sent out more than once so results can be verified.

O.k thanks I'll give the command line a try.
Yes, they are on a local network.

O.k can I use my existing account with the command line because it keeps telling me that no directory is found and keeps asking for email address. (step #14 in the sticky posted by speedj) ANy suggestions
I hope one of the others will jump in here as I don't use those programs but your sure you did this exactly:
": Create a "SETI" folder
: In the SETI folder, copy "setiathome-3_03_i386-winnt-cmdline.exe" & "SETI Driver.exe" & "SetiSpy.exe" "

yep, Actually printed them out and have them right in front of me.
I know the account is good because I was running it just before I uninstalled the screensaver version.

Sounds like the server was down again, try a bit later :D

Yup, just to add weight, it was definitely the server clogging up again: unfortunately that has been happening a lot lately.
It is getting better, but still happens.
I usually find anywhere from 1 to 6 wu backed up every day because of it, but usually they connect within an hour or so if I try to manually upload every few minutes while I'm in here.
