I always wondered how hard drives worked. I know that they use a magnetic surface but how does it write/read information. How does it split up in partitions. I just wanna know all this stuff. LOL :D

they create a magnetic field in a direction which creates a magnetic force that allows the spindle to rotate. according to the F=BIL law. read/write is done using the movement of the head on the disk surface
