Hey guys, i need a new fan for my power source. it has a 2 pin connector inside and its a 80 mm fan. It doesnt need to be extraordinarily quiet (it's going to be in a car) but... i also dont want to spend more than 10 (online) or 15 (in store).... any recomendations? I seem to have trouble finding one's online that have the two pin connector. Thanks for any recommendations.

12v PC fans come with either a "Four-pin" Molex connector(which is really a 2-pin connector) or a 3-pin mini-plug that's intended to go on a mainboard's 3-pin fan riser. Mobo's can't supply much current to their 3-pin fan risers. So, many fans that come with a 3-pin connector SHOULD NOT be connected to the mobo's 3-pin fan risers.
In this case, a 3-pin to 4-pin adapter(again, this is really a 2-pin adapter on the 4-pin side) must be used, so that the mondo fans are connected to the main power chain of Molex connectors.
The reason that 3-pin mini-plugs are really connected to only two pins in the Molex connector is the tachometer wire. It just ends--because Molex connectors do not have fan rpm monitoring capability.
The motherboard's fan risers DO monitor rpm.
Fans can also be bought "untailed," with only the fan's wires--no plug at all. It's very economical to buy 'em untailed.

thanks for the response... i posted another question on this earlier to about can i just solder in the pos/neg wire from these to the 12v/ground on the ps supply sources. I guess it would just be easier to purchase the connectors and do it that way. right?
thanks

As long as the two wires from the PS are +12v and ground, no problem. If your soldering skills are OK, go ahead and solder them. That's how the fan's wires were connected to the PS's original fan wires, right?
A thing to remember: Fan's Red wires connect to a Molex connector's Yellow wire. The fan's Black wire connects to a Molex connector's Black wire, the one that's next to the Yellow wire in the Molex connector.
If the fan has a Yellow or Blue wire, this is the rpm monitoring tachometer wire. This particular Yellow (or Blue) wire does NOT get connected to the Molex connector, period. It can only go to the proper pin of a mainboard's 3-pin fan riser.
