Hi all,

I'm trying to put up an old system that has:

Abit MB
C2D E8200
8800GTX
300GB Raptor (+1 HD)
2GB Ram

Just purchased a Cooler Master Storm Sniper case for it.

I was wondering if this PSU would suffice:

I want a high quality PSU but don't want to spend too much on this system.

How much watt I need to be safe (might do slight OC on CPU)? and what other recommendation you have?

Thanks.

You'll need more than 400W 12v@30A.

Here is the requirement for the 8800GTX:

Minimum of a 450 Watt power supply.
(Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 28 Amps.)

Check this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Productcompare.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2%2050001459%2040000058&bop=And&ActiveSearchResult=True&CompareItemList=58|17-139-004^17-139-004-S01%2C17-139-005^17-139-005-S01%2C17-139-003^17-139-003-S01) list, I would get at least the 450W 12v@33A, but for $20 more you can get the 550W (41A) or 650W (52A) and have headroom.

I know 400W is a bit tight for 8800GTX. I just wanted to get something for around $50.

Maybe OCZ StealthXStream 500W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341012) 12v@36A (2x18A rails)

Corsair CX400 will do fine.

8800GTX: ~135w

With your system, about 275w maximum if that. If you're uncomfortable with 400w, the the VX450 will be enough overkill.

That corsair 400w will be fine, no issues with that whatsoever.
