but the question is on my mind can i speed this celly up with out buying a new cpu.... i got a manual on the mother board its alittle help but is vague on some areas the fsb can be a 100mhz with this chip i tried cpucool no luck on overclocking that way there must be a way to do this.so the question is can i up the cpu mhz and if so how and can i do any thing with this pheniox bios.it doesnt allow for changes or if it does i dont no how to get to them. if you can shine some lite on this i would appreciate it thanks.

I have the same motherboard in an HP system.

Basically, you cannot overclock it at all.

Well, if you want to get crazy, you can try SoftFSB or some other soft-overcloking util, but I was never able to get one of those to work at all.

I was never able to even confirm that it could run a 100mhz FSB- like you said, it is pretty vague.

First thing I would do is replace it with something better. Check the Cyber Deals area, I put up a few boards that will be much better for $50 or so.

have you tried using 83fsb? many motherboards support that. or maybe get a 600MHz celeron and run it at 900MHz :)

it seems like i am at a crossroads with this cpu and bios
766mhz and pheonix bios maybe not overclockable that bad. i might have to up grade to a 1ghz celeron cpu and thats money i bet well with the manual i found a few details about my computer its ram max is 256 i have that but the cpu max is a mystery i have a 766 the manual goes to 500mhz and leaves the 100mhz bus tbd cpu i guess thats a 766 and has a tbd after that is that a 1ghz who nos well if you have any idea on the limit i can put in this celly with this trigen cognac board let me no.i would like to put in a 1gz but dont no if thats to much.all comments appreciated thanks to everyone on helping me obtain a manual and advice on the overclockability. curtis

you are at the limit right now! the 766 is the fastest 66mhz FSB Celeron made.

Even if it does really support a 100mhz FSB, I don't trust it to run the new 100mhz FSB Celerons without a BIOS upgrade, and that's not availible. Or is it?

Also- a new motherboard will cost less than a 1ghz Celeron. IF you combine your 766 and a good mobo, you can OC it and still end up with a faster rig than if you just put a 1ghz in the current board- be cheaper too. Food for thought!:D

take a look at the Cyber Deals section of this forum, there are a few cheap ones in there- $50 or less.

If you want one better than that, I'd say go for an Asus TUSL2. Not cheap, but very fast and full-featured.
