I've been thinking about getting an LCD Monitor once I get my 8500. Is LCD good for 3D or just 2D? And is there any problem hooking it up to a Radeon 8500? Thnx

My friend got one, and when he plays games, after 85 fps, it gets blurry. Not good for games.

i have no trouble with my LCD's

but, you will if you buy the cheap ones

spend a little extra to get quality

but, i won't lie to you, the refresh rates on CRT's are still better,

One good general rule when considering a LCD is refresh rate. Most LCD's out there have decent to good picture quality, but all do not have good refresh rates. If you dont know, refresh rate is the number of times that the image on the display is drawn each second. If your LCD monitor has a refresh rate of 72 Hertz (Hz), then it cycles through all the pixels from top to bottom 72 times a second. You get the idea now, I hope that helped.

oh yeah, one more thing, an obvious way of seeing if your monitor has poor refresh rate is by playing a game, and moving your mouse side to side (preferably a FPS), this action should cause your crosshair to move different directions, now, if you did that, and see your screen skipping some frames, then your monitor isnt handling your games the way it could be... that, or your vid card isnt to good.

If you go to a lot of LAN's, the LCD's are the way to go, unless of course you REALLY need high image quality. In FPS games it's usually good enough, unless you stop to admire textures (which will generally get you killed).

I've seen no problems with my LCD and gaming performance besides it being a superior image :p

Which LCD do you have? I'm looking into getting 2 monitors, and wanted LCD's, but the image quality wasn't up to what I wanted.

My samsung 770TFT flat panel display is awesome. Of course the native resolution is 1280x1024, so if you dont have a good video card, you wont be able to play games at that resolution, but other than that I have never once complained of blurriness during games. It is insanely crisp and the colors stand out better than my old Sony Trinitron. I would say this monitor is the best money i have spend on my computer overall. And the best thing is i will be sticking with it for awhile. It is 17", but in reality it is almost the same size as my friends 19".

I would recommend it. Just make sure you get a quality one. And if you go into stores and look at them, you HAVE to get the resolution correct... or it will look like shiznit.
