1) forgive my spelling.

2) I have an old 486 case that is only good for kicking. I was thinking, could I turn it into a giant radiatorblock, with a few car radiators, and put, say, 5-6 120mm fans in there It would be placed right next to my box. Maybe kinda loud though...

whaddaya think?

Car Radiator" ???????

2.5" down to 1/2" tubing? Gonna need a BIG pump for the thing.

"Maybe kinda loud though... "

Now, maybe a transmission cooler or an A/C condencer........ 1/2" Dia large size...Hmmmm.

Remember, the most a radiator can cool a liquid is to room temperature. I am sure there is a point of "diminishing returns" for radiator size, so a huge radiator may only work slightly better than a smaller one.

Would be cool to have a separate case for your radiator though! Maybe try making a nice custom enclosure, from sheet metal or plexiglass??

I did this to an old AT case -

Works very well and looks much better than an old toolbox with big cutouts which previously held my watercooling system.

Inside space was pretty tight in this small AT case; the radiator is 11" x 9" and the eletrical box is 4 x 4 x 4" and they both barely fit inside. Retained the AT powersupply to run the two 120 mm fans and LED's; power is swiched on by a relay switched powerstrip (not shown) activated when the power on the main system is turned on.

It is fairly quiet with the fans at 7V. Fortunatly, 7V is enough airflow to keep my 1.33 AMD @ 1.463 (1.8V) running at 39C under load with a water temp of 25.6C and an intake air temp of 22.2C. with the fans at 12V it is just too noisy and does not cool significantly better.

Cheers.
