I have a P4VM900-SATA2

i have to flash the BIOS as i cant install XP. I suspected RAM but swapped that out and still no luck, so i disabled everything on board and still no joy. Bios flash is my last option.

But it wont work.

I have my boot dist with AFUDOS & P4VM9S21.10 on it.

I follow all the instructions on the AsRock website so,

insert disc, boot form disc - disk boots
at A:\ type AFUDOS hit space bar once then type bios name -

i type "AFUDOS P4VM9S21.10"

then i get "command or filename not recognized"

what am i doing wrong

ive tried:
AFUDOS &.....
P4VM9S21
P4VM9S2110
P4VM9S2110.BIN
P4VM9S2110.ROM
P4VM9S21.10.BIN
P4VM9S21.10.ROM

NOTHING IM DOING WORKS.

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME OR IM GOING TO HAVE TO THROW THE BOARD AWAY.

THANK YOU

umm its AFUDOS /i<rom name> /pbnc /n

the swtiches force flash and reset the cmos

/n - don't check ROM ID
/pbnc -
b - Program Boot Block
n - Program NVRAM
c - Destroy System CMOS

I saw your post on the other forums but that site's bugged and not allowing me to reply.

My suggestion is to try making a bootable USB flash drive instead of a bootable CD.
When you're done making the bootable flash drive, just plug it in then go into BIOS and set the flash drive as the first boot device.
As long as you have it plugged in, it will be listed.

By the way, I have this same motherboard and have important info for you and anyone else with a P4VM900 who happens to come across this thread.
I'm going to post it below.

P4VM900 SATA2 Low Performance Solution

.

Some valuable information for anyone who owns a ASRock P4VM900 (P4VM900-SATA2) motherboard:

Set Thermal Throttling Temperature to Disabled.
Your system can be very badly choked if you don't.

- when the computer is starting up, press F2 to enter BIOS setup
- go to the Advanced main menu
- go to Chipset Configuration
- set Thermal Throttling Temperature to Disabled

I also highly recommend disabling CPU Thermal Throttling

- go back to the Advanced main menu
- go to CPU Configuration
- set CPU Thermal Throttling to Disabled

Remember to save changes before exiting BIOS setup.
