While I dont have any links, or facts to back it up
With former IW employee's Jason West and Vince Zampella running Respawn, and Dice making the new Medal of Honor (Multiplayer)
It might be a chance to see the end of Activision, IW and Treyarch for good.
The bad taste left in the mouth of all CoD fans with the MW2 release, it will be hard for even the fanbois to give the franchise another chance.
Call of Duty: Black Ops which is expected to be released on Nov 9th is proclaimed to be “one of the biggest events in the entertainment industry.”

Its the same hype they pushed on MW2 and we know where that went. It was 9 hours of a storyline (SP) No dedicated servers (MP) and maps that should have been included in the original and not as a DLC.

I remember reading that Black Ops was going to have dedicated servers. Not sure how legit the source was though.

end of activision? very doubtful
1. they still own the cod name - so we will see constant recreations that a lot of kiddies will buy, sure it might never sell as much as cod4 and MW2 but they will still sell very well.
2. they just got bungie I believe, so just like cod, any game with halo in the title will sell well
3. they own blizzard. with wow (huuuuuge sums of money), starcraft 2 aaannndd Diablo 3
it means even if they carry on screwing up it will be a loooong time before they go bye bye

No links or facts? Sounds like personal hope to me. Developers have outright said yes, they are developing the MULTI player of MOH but they don't see it as in house competition as each will continue to be successful in it's own area. Neither game is going to knock the other out. Both will continue to have at least a couple more games made in each name.
*yawn*
Don't take this as a personal attack or anything, but start providing some input in threads or don't reply. I'm not saying every post of mine has been packed full of intellectual insight but this isn't the first time I've come across a post of yours like this.

As long as Treyarch fixes the issues seen in MW2 with relation to the Multiplayer concerns.... I will buy it for sure. Dedicated Servers and modding with MW2 game play will make this game shine. It could be around a long time.... at least that's what I'm hopeing for.

Remember, Blizzard is part of activision so activision is not going away anytime soon. Also while future releases of Call of duty might not perform up to MW2 standards for making a profit I would guess that they still be quite successful.
The only studio I can see possibly going under with the change is infinity ward and that is because they lost most of their leads. Treyarch will still be around and activision definitely is not going anywhere.

I don't believe they will "go under". Just get bought out and disbanded. :)

While the game disappointed multiplayer fans on many levels it was still a huge success with the best first week sales numbers for any game. So yeah, we do know where it went. It went on to be a huge success.

COD4:MW was the last good one, I hated World at War, and COD MW2 was too short and all over the place.

ah, ok, ah well, tbh I always though the halo brand was the only worth while thing Bungie had - the games themselves really just sold on the brand name rather than anything particularly great (personal opinion before I starty a flame war :) )
but surely the profits from wow just make even cod:MW2 seem like small fish
even if they have lost 1/2 their subscribers (which I bet they haven't) 5,000,000*£9 = £45million per month.
now im sure the costs to run the servers and their staff cost a lot to keep wow going but no where near 45million. since it isn't too long since they were proclaiming 11million subscribers too I wouldn't be surprised if the total revenue is double that - ignoring char transfers and stuff bought from the blizzard store.
