With the Creative support complaints from the other threads is there actually a chance of getting that rebate?

Honestly, I've had only one rebate go bad on me. If done right, making copies and sending all the required items in, good chance.
will this bad boy work with a system 6gb+ of RAM ?

I wouldn't know why it wouldn't. As long as you have access to your pci-e x1 slot.
lot of people said it won't work with 4gb ram system or doesn't work properly, cracking sound etc... My X-FI extreme music (PCI) doesn't work after i upgraded to 12gb of RAM. I tried many modded drivers but no help.

The only complaint I saw was from someone who couldn't find Creative's phone number which is listed right on their site. Was there an issue besides that one?

Oh thanks for thinking about me buddy... Probably should've thought a little further though. Like... I dunno... maybe the reason WHY I was calling tech support. A quick look at Sound Cards and Audio Devices should help you out. In the meantime there's this:

Well there's always all the stuff above.
As for the rebate thing... I've got copies of all my rebate info, and I've contacted places like Corsair... and I've been waiting three years for a $25 rebate. So just because YOU never had trouble with rebates doesn't mean that someone else won't have a problem getting a rebate from a company with lousy customer service and tech support.
For all the reasons above and a million more... (Like the $70 rebate) I'd stay away from this.

Ahh, gotcha. I'm way more petty than that, I just won't buy Creative products because they give money to that fatality twit.

So what's the verdict on this card?
It doesn't work with over 4gb?
We won't get the rebate?
We hate creative and fatality?

If it doesn't work, take it back. Fry's has a very lenient return policy.
As for the rebate. I've had luck, some haven't, with rebates. As stated before.

My x-fi hasn't given me any problems running "6gig"(like he asked) with Xp32bit, Vista 32/64, and/or Windows 7 64.

Yeah I read that. Your greater implication was that, most of the time, rebates work just fine.
I disagree.

That's the problem: About 3/4th of the time these X-Fi cards work just fine... but that's actually a horrible number. That means 25% of the time they don't work at all. Imagine a car or a baby stroller with a 25% failure rate.. nobody would even wait for the recall, they'd find the address of the company and TEAR IT DOWN brick by brick.
Creative's success with these is based on that 75% and the fact that nobody really buys sound cards anymore anyway.

It's an independent estimate based on the roughly 2-300 websites I've visited in the past month looking (to no avail) to fix the problem I've been having.

I've never had an issue with any Creative card that a driver update wouldn't fix.....even had them when I first went to Vista and they wouldn't work worth a damn.......driver update and all was well

So what do you use, then? Creative has been around for so long, and I'll admit I can be blindly loyal

Both Asus and Azunetech have X-Fi cards that... you know... they actually SUPPORT.
The problems people have been having with Creative's version shouldn't even exist. There aren't even that many motherboard manufacturers anymore. I mean just make a hard drive that multi-boots XP32, Vista, Vista 64, and windows seven, then try out all the gigabyte and asus boards with 4GB+ of ram on them until you discover the problem.
Then FIX IT.
That would probably fix the problem for most people right there.
Check out that thread I made in the vendors section about the company you're so blindly loyal to.

For my main rig, the onboard Realtek ALC889A is fine. It lets me configure the inputs/outputs, and works good enough for gaming and voice comms. Never saw a need for an addon card.
The HTPC I'm running a midrange 2.0 setup (NAD C320BEE and Paradigm Monitor 9's) that cried out for something better than onboard. I researched and asked OCF, and ended up with Auzentech. The swappable opamps meant I could upgrade just the 2 channels I'd be using, and if I go surround down the road, put the extra money into upgrading the other 6 channels later. Value for money, the Auzentech cards just seem to run circles around the competition.

Opinion.
I think we can agree that you don't see many,if any, threads on how great a product is on a component "tech support" site.
So the perception is tainted if that's the data you are using to support your view.
@cw823 I also have been using Creative products since the Win98 days.
There are so many variables to a malfunction or defect in the expected quality of an output of a signal, it's stoopid to just blindly lay blame at a certain component.
Like beating a dead horse.
BTW, the sale is over http://www.frys.com/product/5665331?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

lol, the 'is hates' must have been a sentence change sort-of-editing typo. I agree that branding purely for the sake of it is silly but at the same time either: 1) it's just branded that way and there's no 'non-branded' equivalent so whatever or 2) it's branded and there is a difference - I can think of the Zalman Cu900 GPU heatsink as an example, the FATAL1TY branded version had a higher RPM fan. Personally I just evaluate the product and don't worry too much about any silly branding.

I agree, I don't usually care one way or the other if a product is has someone's name attached or not. With fatality branded stuff though, I've seen products where the exact same thing from the same manufacturer cost more just because it had his name on it. I don't like that.

No. You're ASSUMING that's the data I'm using to support my point of view. You can assume any number of things to come out right in an argument.
I was... in fact... BALANCING everything I saw in the support forums against the thousands of great reviews and all the people I ever heard say the card worked just fine.
Look at any possible site that carries public reviews of the card: Newegg, Amazon... any place you'd care to look. The split between positive and negative is around 3-1.
The problems are always exactly the same: Low to No volume, bad crackling, card would not install.

Do you see the irony in the fact that you have a p5Q pro listed in the classifieds and you want "anything but asus", yet your FS thread for the creative cards says you're using asus D2X

Mothherboard... vs CPU.
And I've been to Asus headquarters and they make a damned fine latte.
