Well if i remember correctly artifacts result from the card getting hot and crashes come from not enough voltage on vid cards. What is your case temp and try cooling the card better and see if you still get artifacts or as many artifacts.

from what ive learned artifacts are coused by raising the core clock to high or memory to high.
id try and find a few people who have overclocked your card, see what they was able to do. and start out testing it at say 30% below there highest settings.
increase this by only 2-3 mhz at a time. then when you start getting some artifacts or lockups you can see when and where it starts at. then go to 1 mhz increases or decreases.
only do gpu by its self and memery by its self. not at same time.
ive found if i do this method i can pretty accuratly oc my card to its max with no artifacts.
try using 3dmark2001 . ive found its the meanest benchmark for system stablity. let alone video stability.

my case temp is like 29c and i have fan on the graphics card and antec silver thermal paste.

Is it the stock cooler you have on the GPU? If you can, post a pic or a link to a pic of the card. Not too sure how many people have that card around here, but most of the stuff that applies to other cards should work. Like cooling methods, system settings, etc...

Also are you using the latest drivers for your card and how much of an overclock are you trying now?

Sorry i took so long to andswer i went skiing

well i o/c it to 166/175ram 166/175 gpu and i think i'm using the latest driver.
would it help if i put a heat sink on all the mem and where do i get small heat sinks

are you talking about your FSB?

no i am talking about the gpu and mem on the graphics card.

Ok you said when you oc'd it you got no artifacts. Are you talking about the gpu there? Then you said but when i raised it 1mhz i got artifacts. Are you talking about the Video memory there? If so that makes since because artifacts usually come from the memory getting too hot not the card as a whole.

yah i am talking about the mem and Gpu which i o/c to 166/175 (both gpu and mem) now i want to o/c more but the artifacts are holding me back.

But what if i put a heat sink on every mem chip. would that help to get rid of the artifacts?

Also were can i get small heat sinks for the mem?

Most likely RAMsinks will help but it's not gaurenteed. I can't help you on where to find them thoughd=\. Just make sure when you put them on you have an epoxy or something that will make it stay on. Some people have used some sort of epoxy and then a little bit of superglue on the corneres.

Well i did some searching around for you and here you go.

http://www.crazypc.com/products/cooling/cooling.htm#cardcoolers

is one place

http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/

is another

which one's better? I don't know. Are there better ones out there? I don't know that either but there's 2 places i found you can try.

No i haven't personally but

crazypc on www.reselleratings.com have a score of 6.9 with 97 votes which is a very high score (7.0 is the highest possible).

and heatsinkfactory has a 6.9 with 57 votes which again is high.

I would feel comfortable buying from either one of these sites.

Another place you can look is:

http://www.hardcorecooling.com/

These are a little expensive but are 4 fin copper sinks unlike all the others I have seen which only have 3.
