Well I was bored one day and I was thinking of something cool to do with my blow hole and I saw a tractor with one of those diesel flaps on it over the Internet. I thought if a tractor can have one I want one too. So I made one out of paper and here are the pictures.

I remember seeing a pic somewhere of someone who used verrrrry nice chrome exhaust tips for his ducts! Looked good, but tough to move.
My stuff mostly looks pretty junkyard anyway: I think I like the Paper Stack better!:)

Yeah I might do that. My Dad does have a aluminum welder and and I could use a real diesel flap. I all I would need is a good muffler. I wonder if I used a really loud fan would the sound go down with a muffler. :burn:

You know thats a thought,I imagine something like a lawn mower muffler would bring down the high pitch sound if you were running a high rpm fan but you would still get the sound from the other end of the fan resonating in the case.Maybe If it was built like a gun silencer and the fan was placed in the middle so that it blocked the sound at both ends without restricting airflow.

Of course, the price you pay for any muffler is reduced air flow. That's why serious racers prefer open headers to any muffler. ;)

yeah i think the diesel flap would be too heavy for fan to open it.
LOL, that's pretty funny. I've got a much better idea though. The system I am currently working on is going to have a fire motif going on. I'm going to have a 172mm blow hole on the top and was thinking about getting pieces of red and orange tissue paper to mount on there and make it look like a little fire on top of my case. Hehe, I can even get really bad and mount a couple of red LEDs near the fan to illuminate the tissue paper in the dark.
But, of course, that would increase noise so I wouldn't actually keep it there for long. Maybe just long enough to get some pics.

If correctly balanced it wouldn't, thats why the real ones have the counter wieghts on them.
