I am new at all this so please be patient with me.

Board: SiS-730
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software International, Inc. 6.00 PG
256 Megabytes Installed Memory
256 Megabyte Module Size - 1 Installed
2 Memory Sockets are Empty

I need to know for sure what cpu i have Belarc says i have a 950
But i am supposed to have a 1261 t-bird. I think the place i bought my computer from is trying to rip me off.
Please Advise

I have been working with mhypertext a little. It is an ECS K7SEM motherboard. He really is a little new at this. I figured out that his FSB is 100, but am not sure if there is a multiplier on this board.

Yes, it should be in the motherboards, my goof.

Download a program called wcpuid and run it then post a screenshot. Here is the link to the program (http://cgi2.tky.3web.ne.jp/~nrklv/cgi-bin/softdl.cgi?wcpu30f.exe)

do you mean a 1.2 Thunderbird? is it a 200 or a 266?

Edit: I think it could go either because he is trying to find out what cpu he has.

This is what it says u think i can just change it to 133mhz
cause then the multipler would come out right i think the bios was changed somehow

If my calculations are right then it is suppose to be set at 133 FSB if it is indeed the chip you stated was supposed to be in there.
Ridenow would you agree that he should try to set it at 133 in the bios?

If it is not a T-Bird 1.2 how long will it take it to fry

Kendan

I don't think it would fry it just wont post or will be unstable. Try it and see if it is stable.

Kendan

Touch the heatsink is it warm or hot? then see if there is a place in the bios that gives you a temp? Is that with anything running?
Did you set MBM5 up the way the readme tells you to?

Edit: if it is hot or you get the high temp in the bios then set the FSB back down to 100 and see what the temp is at.

no i just installed it and set it up for my system

Kendan

It seems like it is way too hot. do set it back to 100 and post what the temp is.

Does the heatsink feel cool warm or hot?

And does it tell you the temp of the cpu in the bios?

Ridenow

Yes, I agree. It sounds like it is a 1.2 T-bird that should be on the 133 FSB. I think that the idiots that he let touch his computer reset his BIOS to default. As to the temps, I do not use MBM, but I have heard that some motherboards do not have the third sensor and they can give a bogus reading. 94C is not a reasonable temperature, if something, anything, in a computer was that hot you would be smelling burnt plastic. That is not hot enough to actually catch on fire, but it is hot enough to melt a few things. If you are not smelling anything, it is a bogus reading.
