Have Ultras increased in quality? I only remember them being flashy pieces of crap that went up in smoke.

Oh, I'm sorry, when you said 'a good PSU' I thought it meant what it sounds like it means. My bad, great find, thanks for posting it.

Hey ratbuddy, that's not what this community is about. If someone takes offense, maybe you could be understanding and just let them know that jonnyguru is the authoritative source on PSUs, and maybe this wouldn't really be a good choice.

Acting like a jerk, makes you look like a jerk. Knock it off.

You're right, I should know better, I'm sorry I didn't just ignore his sarcasm.

hey, if you guys know all the psus out there and can afford to be sarcastic in the cyberdeals section about it - fine, but it looked like a normal deal post to me. if it wasn't for janus and ratbuddy's posts i would've bought it.. so for a n00b like me ratbuddy does not look like the jerk here, sorry.

I acknowledged the fact that ratbuddy was informative, but the attitude was unnecessary - Mainly, I know him, and I knew he would understand my point.

The point is we can be informative with eachother, and be friendly too. He gets that, its his usual way of doing things, and you should get it too.

Got to agree with I.M.O.G, Although Wickedout was the first one at fault here and I can fully understand why Ratbuddy wrote what he did.

Some people may think I.M.O.G was a bit strict, and there probably (a bit) right. But thats what makes O/C Forums such a great, friendly and informative place. As people that have a bad attitude and talk rubbish don't last long here :)

If you wanna see real PSU sarcasm, check out an old thread that this one reminded me of: http://www.overclockers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=557028

Ultra psu's are hit and miss.
They came out with a 500 watt a few years ago that was good.
But then they must have changed suppliers and the psu's weren't so good.
When the x3 1000 watt'r first came out, it got good reviews. Now, not so much.
Their x4's haven't been rated very decent either, atm.

I cant speak for this particular Ultra model but I can say that I have an Ultra 700w (not sure the exact model) in my file server for a year now and it was used for a while before that as well, and have had zero problems. Now keep in mind the system it has been in does not use any where close to 700w so this could be a contributing factor but still. Just wanted to note that buying any Ultra PSU does not mean your putting a ticking time bomb in your computer.
