I just added a lil cooler to prevent it from heating, it was very hot!
Nothing special, just a fan.

Si, un Playstation 3 es muy caliente para a diferencia de 360 es de Playstation 3 puede tolerar de caliente para la 360 no pueda. No hace ningun dano y es muy beueno.
How's my Spanish? I've not used it in a few years.
What I said for the English speakers is that: The PS3 does run hot but it can tolerate it unlike the 360, however this mod will do no harm and is actually very good.

*Si, una playstation 3 se calienta pero puede tolerarlo, no como la 360, de todas formas este mod no hara daņo y es bastante bueno.
That would be the exact thing you said, your spanish is kinda okay. I could understand ^^
Btw, do you guys know why it runs slowly?

It's being ran off USB? I believe those are powered at 5V, and case fans are rated at 12V. Just needs more juice if that's the case.

Ye it works on usb, so no chance if its runned with usb?

Well it may be possible to use multiple USB slots in series to double the voltage. But I don't think that would be very efficient and you're basically losing out on those ports just for a single fan. The best bet would be to use an external power source from my perspective.
I think that setup you have now would be fine since most PS3s don't really have big issues with overheating. You have a notebook cooler and a side fan which is more than what your typically PS3 has. Just keep the vents clean and you should be good.

I would buy a small fan that runs maxed out on 5V.
Is there a way of linking 2 USBs together?

When I think about it some more I'm not even sure. Seems like the setups I'm thinking of have them in parallel. So the best option would be to purchase a fan with a higher CFM rating.

I'm just unsure if you can actually wire it up.
I see 2 ways of doing it but I don't think either will work. The first one (batteries in series) DEFINITELY won't work.
The second one (the non series one) will give you a higher current if you max the current from one of the sockets (which you won't) but will do nothing to the voltage.
The way I see it there's no way of getting any voltage higher than 5V.
If you want to go for some external circuitry then yes you can, ask if you want me to show you that, but without going past the very simplistic there's no way.

Base off Tinymouse's illustration.
The 1st setup (in series) gives higher voltage.
The 2nd setup (in parallel) gives higher current.
So, if you want more voltage, put more batteries in series as shown in the 1st setup.

Yes, there are USB cable out there that will do that. I got one of those, when I was setting up an external drive. It came with the enclosure I purchased. The reason it comes with the case was because some drives need more current. In order to do that, you have to power up the drive by connecting to 2 usb ports. However, I'm not sure where you can buy the cables individually. All I can tell you is that the USB cable you are looking exist.
Edit: I found it.

He's using USBs though. They're both connected to the same ground line (I believe) and basically the whole thing will explode if you try and do something like that :p
Edity:
Just saw your second post.
I'm doubtful that will give you a higher voltage...
You really need a DC->DC converter to get a higher voltage. Will have to look at it tomorrow (after I have a few hours of sleep in me :p)

Again though keep in mind that all of this is very overly precautionary. The only times I've heard of a PS3 overheating ala the 360 is when the're stuffed into a cabinet with inadequate airflow or when they're covered in so much dust that you'd think somebody buried it, dug it up a week later, plugged it in and tried to play it.

Have to agree but talking about little projects like this makes me happy :p

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for hacking and modding.

I agree with you, i just felt like doing something usefull with a fan that i wasnt even using ^^. It does get a lil hot but wont die, i know that

Believe me, I too was concerned when I first got mine. I believe I compared it to a hair dryer due to the heat coming out of it. I was very concerned.
