We are gonna need WAY more info than that! Like room temp, Motherboard, original speed, voltage, HS, fan, open or closed case..... all taht good stuff.

do you still have the ECS board?

What thermal paste are you using? What HS? Did you lap the HS?

Many many questions...

What type of heatsink are you using? It is very important to know.

u mean the alumanim deal on top of the cpu

it says 45c on the cpu in the bios so i think it is normal

usually when the bios saus something like that you should go with it...since programs could have compatability problems and so on but there is still that chance

Some way to verify case temps can help check accuracy of bios/ mbmonitor- I use an indoor/outdoor thermometer. Just lets me know if temps are reading in the ballpark or not.

Case cooling is important because if you don't move the hot air out it just recycles and gets hotter- if your pc runs cooler with the side of the case off, you need to work on case cooling.

If 45c is accurate, its not bad, IF that is a load temp- idle temps are lower than when the cpu is under load, so they don't mean as much.

Temps vary from one mobo to another so what you get for results may not be quite like mine, but: I have no problems at all with cpu load temps up to 45c. When I get near 50c I start having all kinds of stability problems.

More specs (what heatsink/ fan, if you used thermal compound or the thermal pad, what mobo) will help figure it all out.

I am glad to see that your MBM5 temps were wrong. The ones in the bios seem ok. Stick around a little while and you will learn how to get your temps down :D

I would be more inclined to believe the bios information than the Monitor program. I would uninstall it and reinstall it to see if it changes. The idea of getting something to check the temp with is good. A cooks thermometer is a good item to do this with. There is no way your chip is at 200 plus degrees or it would have fried by now. So the problem has to do with software.
good luck

ya, that is the heatsink, and im assuming it is the stock one?

btw paupton, those 200 degree temps were in F, not C
