Guys,

I'm a new user and unfortunatelly I don't understand nothing about overclock then I need some help to do this to not to do bull****.

As far as I know this processor e8400 is good to do overclock but my Motherboard is a little bit limited I guess.

I'd like to overclock to 3.5Ghz because I'll upgrade my graphic card to ATI Radeon 5850.

I don't know what I have to set on BIOS.

I have this:

AI Overclocking -
DRAM Frequency - As my processor is 1333Mhz FSB then I have: 667/800/1000/1110mhz
CPU Frequency - 200 a 600

Memory Over Voltage - 1.85000 / 1.85625 / 1.86250...2.24375
1.25v Over Voltage - 1.25v / 1.40v
1.5v Over Voltage - 1.5v / 1.6v
Vcore Over Voltage - 50mv / 100mv / 150mv

What I have to do guys?

Thanks you in advance
Matiello

My PC:
Mobo ASUS P5KPL-AM S/V/R
Intel Core2Duo E8400 3Ghz 6MB
4GB DDR2-800mhz Kingston (2x2gb)
ATI Radeon XFX 4870 512Mb DDR5

Guys, I've tried a some changes.

FIRST ATTEMPT:

- CPU Frequency: 388
- DRAM Frequency: 800Mhz
- Latency SPD: 6-6-6-18

Screen:

QUESTION: As far as I know the proportion of FSB/DRAM should be close 1:1, right? Because before any changes this proportion was 5:6.
And after this changes, CPUZ showed 466Mhz, but this way overload my memory, right?

SECOND ATTEMPT:

- CPU Frequency: 388
- DRAM Frequency: 800Mhz
- Latency: 5-5-5-15

QUESTION: Why the size changed of 5120Mbytes to 6144Mhz.

THIRD ATTEMPT:

- CPU Frequency: 388
- DRAM Frequency: 667Mhz
- Latency: 5-5-5-15

The size back to 5120Mbytes and the DRAM on CPUZ goes to 388 and the proportion to 1:1.

QUESTION: I believe if I use DRAM: 667MHz and increase the latency to 6-6-6-18 é wrong?
QUESTION: Another point is about Speedstep and c1e that I disabled. This affect or not overclock?

Well,

after many tests I've discovered my Mobo don't allow set Vcore then this limited my overclock.

Stock:

FSB: 333(3,0Ghz)
DRAM: 800Mhz
Latencia: 6-6-6-18 (SPD)
DRAM Frequency: 400Mhz
FSB:DRAM: 5:6

Overclock:

FSB: 388(3,5Ghz)
DRAM: 667Mhz
Latencia: 5-5-5-15
DRAM Frequency: 388.5Mhz
FSB:DRAM: 1:1

I'd like to know if this overclock is better than stock?
Then I need to do some benchmarks to compare this tests.
Any suggestion to software?

Thanks
Matiello

Your overlcock will be better than stock but your RAM speed will be slower. Can you set the CPU/DRAM divider to get your RAM back upto 800mhz? I am not familar with your board.

You can try Sisoft Sandra Or Lavalys Everest to benchmark your system

I can set

FSB: 400(3,6Ghz)
DRAM: 667MHz
Latency: 5-5-5-15 or 6-6-6-18 (SPD)

Then on CPUZ
DRAM Frequency goes to: 400Mhz

But when I've used OCCT to test, I've got a error.

I've done many test to try increase my DRAM Frequency near to 400Mhz but the closer that I can was 388.5Mhz

Can you give us the model of your RAM?

Your RAM should run at 400mhz (800 DDR) @ 6-6-6-18 timings just as it was before your overclocked your CPU. Your board seems to offer you the right divider to do that so I can't see why it's not working.

I would suggest upping the DRAM voltage but without knowing the exact model of the RAM it's hard to advise that. Most DDR2 RAM is safe upto 2.1v tho. OCZ DDR2 modules can often take 2.2v and be safe.

Unfortunatelly my ram is the commum...

Spec:

I've just do 2 benchmarks:

Stock:

FSB: 333(3,0Ghz)
DRAM: 800Mhz
Latencia: 6-6-6-18 (SPD)
DRAM Frequency: 400Mhz
FSBRAM: 5:6

Overclock:

FSB: 388(3,5Ghz)
DRAM: 667Mhz
Latencia: 5-5-5-15
DRAM Frequency: 388.5Mhz
FSBRAM: 1:1

Any suggestion?

i used to have this motherboard, the options are limited, if you set the ram speed to the lowest it will let you, you will be able to get a higher fsb.

when it says "800" for ram in the bios, it doesnt set it to 800, it changes the devider so that the ram would be at 800 if you run your cpu at stock, so by the time you up the fsb the ram gets draged up with it.

Guys,

and what about C1E and SpeedStep, no problem with Overclock?

Thanks
