couple of things come to mind, Colin...first, your board may not accept the 800 w/o a BIOS update, so it may be an incompatablilty issue...two, you may not be at the right voltage for the 800, or on the right bus. Check your motherboard stats...third, your slocket may not be plugged in all the way...good luck!

this board has the option of running slot1 or socket 370 (not both at the same time)
board should accept the chip cmos states will run 800 @ 100x8
board is M766lmrt...FSB 66/100... minutes before had pII 350@100x3.5..
if it is the voltage, how can I reset without boot??
should I still need bios update ??
turned it on without HSF hot really fast ???

are you sure your board is compatible with FCPGA chips? The old cele's were PPGA and the new chips are FCPGA. Powerleap makes a socket adapter NeoS370 or you can also get a slotket

Also Colin you may want to shorten your sig. a bit

Deez I have looked at every ting I can find. And it seems to me it should work. the only thing that seems to stick in my mind is... the voltage..I don't see any jumpers for adjusting....
P111 copermine oct 1999 secc2/fc-pga 100mhz volt=1.60-1.75
the p11 350 voltage i almost double I think.

any help appreciated

your board should auto adjust for different voltages. If not look into a slotket with voltage adjustment

states that this board supports 800 mhz or more... but supported voltage id 2.0
The pIII is running at 3.31v
shouldn't the celeron 800 run at 1.70v?
