I am trying to make a super cooling system, using a compressor, a radiator and a Niobium block for the purpose of the heatsink.

But cant decide in wich Gas or Liquid to use:
-Liquid Nitrogen
-Liquid Carbon Dioxide
-or Amonium

If u are familiarize with these system or componets, I will be glad to recieve your help.

Current system that I'm trying to build is:
-AMD Athlon 900Mhz, 100Mhz FSB
-Soyo Dragon Plus
-and the rest is irrelevant.

With all that and the appropiate cooling, I think I can overclock it to 3.724 Ghz if the Proc structure and the Mobo can handle it.

If u have any ideas i could use please e-mail me
valak@phreaker.net

Thanks...

i have little experiance in the field of cemicals. but heres my take of it.
amonium is ok but if you leak , you have a very stinky situation. not sure about it dangerous or not.
i think the liquid co2 , carbon dioxide is dangerous. its used in dry ice also, but in a solid form.i have dealt with this in small amounts

i think the liquid nitrogen is the best bet. hard to handle but aside from that its good. im not sure how it will react in a closed inviroment like tubing. most likely will be a condinsation nightmare.
just some of my ideas

Ok here's some brief info on some coolants:
Ammonia - Probably the easiest to sourse a compressor for bar freon. Highly toxic, but strong smell so if it leaks you can get the hell out. ;) May be hard to source due to toxic nature.
CO2 - Much harder to find a compressor for, generally only available in solid and gaseous forms. Non-toxic.
LN2 - Need one hell of a compressor (talking several thousand $ at least), lot of power, heavy duty insulation setup (or you condense LOX and blow yourself to bits), likely to nuke a cpu within a week due to thermal stress. Non-toxic.
R-134a - Normal freon replacement refridgeration, Compressors very easy to source, easy to get hold of refills etc. Somewhat less efficient than R-12 freon. Non-toxic.
R-12 - Very hard to get hold of due to environmental concerns, if you can get it, it works really well though. Non-toxic.
Propane - Works about as well as R-12 but if it leaks your computer will likely explode. Very very cheap and easy to source, one of the best options for cooling. Non toxic.

Note while most of these are non toxic, you can still get burns from the extreme cold of depressurizing gas if there is a leak and in sufficient quantities they can asphixiate you, cooling systems do not generally contain enough coolant for asphixiation though.

Oh btw 3.7GHz on a 900 chip is not going to happen, maybe 1500 if you're lucky :p

ok i see the reason you thinkin 3.7 is if you use 233 466ddr wich the board will go to but there is no way in...well anyware that youd be able to get that high!
eaven if the entire board was somehow submerdged in ln2
