Doesn't work with everything but I just ordered an evga gtx 480 for $363 so it's ok in my book. It only worked in the small business section for me. Expires on 6\10 so hurry up! I just happened to notice this in the deals section on H right after it was posted with no replies but when I checked back a few minutes later the vultures were already circling.

Enter HHM4QNZ3303N1Z at checkout.

Nice find!

Here's the other GPU deals:
HD5870 for $330
GTX 470 for $293
HD5850 for $228

Too bad Dell's prices are higher than say NewEgg, but it still comes out cheaper with the code though.

I just searched 5850 on dell, then put it in my cart and applied the code. It was $325, so 325*0.7 = 227.50

Unfortunately it seems graphics cards are excluded from the code now:

No.

are these (http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html) crap? i don't know anything about the new cards and i'm trying to figure what's the order based at least on performance, to be able to know what's a good deal and what not..

is there another place that compares many cards that can give me idea what's better than what or i have to study all of them in and out to figure?

I got an email from dell that says my order was delayed but they're confident it will get to me by the 28th. At least they didn't back out on me. I guess I can wait a couple weeks to save over a hundred bucks.

I like www.gpureview.com, you can compare cards' specs and they list reviews for the cards as well.

It's in the pc and it works. I expected a dustbuster but it blends in with the normal noise of my pc just like my gtx 260 216. It's also the same size. Haven't gamed on it yet but I expect great things. Btw what do you want a screenshot of exactly? I don't know what somebody could do with the different numbers in the confirmation email and I'm a little paranoid. If I can find a few minutes to ms paint a bunch of crap I'll do it in a bit after I eat.

Oh and btw it's a pretty nice card. I can finally play fallout 3 on ultra settings with 8xAA and 15xAF at 1900x1200 with 60fps consistently. Those settings were a slideshow on the gtx 260. You won't be sorry if you wait for it. It gets a bit louder in game and peaks at 88c but it's not that bad and the heat is no big thing since evga has a lifetime warranty if it fries. The air coming out the back feels like my old x1900xt from back in the day. It worked fine forever.

Lol sorry the wording threw me off. I'll take a pic but I'd rather not take it out of the case. I'll do my best.

EDIT: There doesn't seem to be an easy way to get the pic from my phone to the pc so F motorola. Sorry.

Ok I finally paid 10 bucks for the newest driver cleaner pro and used it. the weird VATS lag went away and no artifacts yet. performance is smoother overall. yes stock clocks.

EDIT: Ok I lied it happened again. I think the thing can't stand it's own heat. After an hour or so fallout 3 starts getting weird. Sometimes when i walk around (outside only) there's this black squiggly scribble that flips about in the air. it always seems to catch up with me if i leave it behind. also was able to see through a few solid objects here and there. hopefully somebody makes a good cooler for it soon. so glad for awesome warranties.

That's great man hope you like it. I haven't had any more artifacts in fallout 3 since I went back to using the in game settings so I think it's fine. The seems to be some kind of incompatibility between the game and nvidia control panel AA settings as far as I can tell.

I left the fan alone. It idles around 45-50 and loads around 90. As soon as a cooler comes out I'm all over it. I'd rather not turn the fan up any more. It would be too loud. It's right at the point where my headphones block it out under load if there's sound coming out of them but more would be a bit much. For now I might try some mx-2 with the stock cooler and see if that works. The lifetime warranty keeps me from freaking out too much about a little heat, at least for a little while.

If it's artfacting at any stock speeds and setting you have bad ram chip and I would RMA, 90c normal temp at load with a GTX 480

EVGA LINK http://www.evga.com/support/knowledgebase/
QUOTE:Video card temperatures typically range from 40C to 80C. Most high end video cards such as the 7, 8, and 9 series typically display temperatures 50-70C idle and up to 80C-90C at load. The latest 4xx series cards run hotter than most and can reach a maximum of 105C.

THough I personally had no issues with my card to 111C (thats right, no problems sans reboot), what I found with my 470 was setting the fan at 75% straight up when gaming, or having a more agressive fan ramp up I have it set to 50% up to 55C, then it jumps to 75% by 58C. Temps never break 80C for me outside of furmark with 22C ambients. Being summer now, I do see low 80's at that speed. I dont hear it over my headphones....

Dont force AA through Nvidia control panel if the game has AA options.

Also, why did you buy Driver Cleaner? Its a free app....

I bought it because 1.5 is really old and there's a new one out that updates with what I assume are new definitions. If drivers have changed since then I think the cleaner would have to be up to date right? It had updates when I checked. Either that or I'm a tool and got scammed lol. Here's the one I got.

Chime in if you got your card! Also an update on mine. There's nothing wrong with it, it was a driver\fallout 3 thing I think. It has no artifacts in metro 2033 at max settings which is far harder on the card than FO3.

Have you tried to run furmark?

Brando
06-28-10, 11:16 PM
No haven't tried furmark. I heard it kills cards somehow but this could be paranoia idk. I tried evga oc scanner which is basically furmark but made for the card by the people that made the card which makes me a bit more comfortable using it. I hope everybody didn't cancel their order. I'm curious if they came today like they were supposed to.
