A geiger counter? And not sure if thats readily available to the public, and if it is, I cant imagine they would be cheap.
Why? Arent there plenty of studies online about this already?

wifi and cell phones are harmless, they give off the same or less radiation than an expensive compass

If you are looking for an RF meter, try this site. I've used tips from here quite often-->http://www.qsl.net/n9zia/wireless/appendixF.html
These guys sell some security related stuff-->http://www.brickhousesecurity.com/sh-055dv.html
What frequency band are you looking to detect?
You could also go with a bare-bones RF diode...http://www.dl5neg.de/diodesensor/diodesensor.html

Geiger counters can be had for about $10 :D
I have one, made in soviet russia. Works great.
They only detect ionizing radiation though, the stuff that causes cancer and such.
RF "radiation" hasn't been proven to do much of anything.
