After I installed a new pci winmodem, I was getting this at shutdown.....

"A fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:C15B0497
The current application will be terminated."

So I checked, and yes, it was the modem. So my question is why, and how can I find a solution....BTW, it is a DSI modem.

Try putting it in another slot. Use the lastest drivers. Modem was a pain for me so many IRQ conflicts.

Find the DSI website, and see if you can locate any updated drivers. Should help quite a bit. Also, as Yodums recommended, check in Device Manager and see if the modem has a conflict. If so, try another slot.

Well I just got the new driver and it hasn't helped, I still got the blue screen. Also, I have no conflicts according to device manager. Should I still try different slots? I have tried one other slot but to no avail.

You can try removing all cards except your vid card, then try installing the modem. That will cut down on the likelyhood that there's a hardware conflict.

I only have 2 expansion cards; the vid card and the modem. I have onboard, craptacular AC '97 sound.
