ok I am about to buy a MP 1800+ really soon i hope and i wanted to know if it is still possible to run 133 SDRam with 1 processor. i kow you don't get that extra boost but i have a 512 chip and this might turn into a buy it over time project as the funds come in. i know this wonks great on a socket A 1.3 TB but i am not sure now with the new core. the board is the tyan Tiger MP (S2460) Board details (http://www.tyan.com/products/html/tigermp.html) it says it can run DDR but nothing about SDRAM it would only be temp anyway.

why would you wanna spend all that money for an mp (same performance as xp by the way) and stick it in an sdr board?
buy a 1600 or so xp and spend the rest on a good ddr board and some ram

well see i want to buy as much of it as soon as i can and i don't have the money for they board chip and ram now. i have the sdram in my current pc
how about buying the board and some ddr and a cheap duron untill u can afford a couple mp's to run in it?? i think that mp board can run in single processor mode as well so it would work

well see i don't know how much money i am going to be able to beg out of my dad for all this before i go to college. i would have no problem getting a XP 1900 or so and the ram and everything. i was going to just get a single mp 1800 and buy the second later when more funds are avaible. this is still going to be awsome but that is about and extra $180 to get thayt mp vs xp. i was just wondering if i could save the $115 for the 512 ram to help convince him to get me the MP rig.
no, you have to use DDR with that Mobo

The TigerMP is an incredibly picky board with RAM. You definitely need to have registered DDR for it.
If you want a PC133 SDRAM based dually, you should be looking at a P3/Via 694D setup.

The Tyan Duallies Tiger or Thunder will only take DDR memory. If you run either board with only 1 processor, you can run unregistered DDR, if you run 2 processors, you run ECC registered DDR on them.
