ive been folding for about a month or 2. just now (after i got the system below), i started getting an error when i close folding. for example, i open the display to see whats been doen, and i go to close and i get an error in "winFAH.exe". it runs fine when not displaying, so its all good! but does anyone know what to do to get rid of the error?
thanks a lot
This has been reported by a few members lately with certain new proteins. Some mentioned that using the beta client helps. I haven't tried it but haven't had any problems yet.

Does it happen on all of the protiens? I know that many(including myself) can't open the display when a sidechain is being folded. It crashes winfah but core65 keeps on going. What os are you running? My suggestion is to download folding monitor and use that to keep track of your units. When you see that a sidechain is being folded then that's your clue not to open the display for winfah. However i don't think all sidechains crash it or maybe they fixed it because i recently got a CHARMM sidechain and it didn't crash but eariler when i had OPLSAA sidechain it did. I think it has something to do with drivers and WindowsXP but i'm not sure.
THanks ]-[itman (BTW. I'm going to start using a regular H there instead if you don't mind.) I have tried to reproduce this and have been completely unsuccessful. I think that it must only be certain proteins that causes this problem, although my laptop doesn't like any of the proteins. But I can't get updated drivers for it since it's kind of a generic system. There was another thread about this a couple of weeks ago. I don't remember what the conensus was but if anyone remembers where it was it may help us find out wassup. Also Kendan is on top of the beta clients and the news from Stanford and has posted that a 2.18 beta will be coming out soon. Hopefully we'll see some of these problems fixed. If you want you can run the text only version, beta 2.17 is supposed to be working well and will help you to avoid any problems associated with the graphical client. Just download the text only version and drop it into your current folding@home directory and it should run with all of your current settings. Don't run more than one client at a time from teh same directory though.

hehe i donn't mind at all. It seems that they have fixed this problem though because i just got another OPLSAA and it doesn't crash winfah when i open it. I'll look for the other thread though.
