i was looking at the Visiontek Bigfoot http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833189002

my pings in BFBC2 are about 280 or so most of the time no matter what server im in and was wondering if this will lower my pings at all

my internet is http://www.speedtest.net/result/852265619.png

Ping your router. You will get results like this:

Ping statistics for 192.168.1.1:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 1ms, Maximum = 5ms, Average = 2ms

This will give you an idea of how much you could save. In my case, even if physics didn't even exist in my house with a new NIC, I would only gain 1-5ms.

In general your ping is mostly out of your contol.

EDIT:
Here is another fun one to try -- do a trace route to find out where most of the time is spent in your ping. Here is an example with google.com

C:\> tracert google.com

Tracing route to google.com [66.102.7.99]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 3 ms <1 ms <1 ms xxxxxx [192.168.1.1]
2 11 ms 12 ms 11 ms xxxxxx
3 10 ms 9 ms 10 ms xxxxxx
4 11 ms 13 ms 11 ms xxxxxx
5 13 ms 11 ms 14 ms xxxxxx
6 15 ms 14 ms 16 ms xxxxxx
7 34 ms 37 ms 39 ms xxxxxx
8 15 ms 15 ms 15 ms xxxxxx
9 15 ms 17 ms 18 ms 72.14.239.246
10 16 ms 15 ms 15 ms lax04s01-in-f99.1e100.net [66.102.7.99]

Trace complete.

I obscured some of the results, but this gives you a sense of how long traffic from me takes to get to google. The 3 columns are 3 trials. Traffic within my house took 3ms on the first trial, and less than 1ms on the second and third trials. And then you can see from all the other hops that traffic spent quite a bit of time outside my house.

An infinately fast NIC will only help you with that first hop, it won't do anything for all of the rest. So if people are claiming wild results in reviews I would be pretty sceptical.

The Killer NIC is a well-known waste of money... it's been around for years in various forms, and it's been disproven many times over.

The reviews that showed improvements were comparing the thing against cheap, crappy onboard NICs, which are quite infamous for being... well... cheap and crappy. Go look at some comparisons between the Killer NIC and the $30 Intel Pro/1000 card, then you'll see why everybody considers the Bigfoot card to be such a joke.
