View Full Version : MOHAA a Waste?

What a waste the single playe is short the game has no boss. The multi player has barely any maps and the gameplay is limited by the selection of wepons and the omition to choose what kind of character yo want to be like in CS and RTCW. The only good thing i have to say is the sound rocks

Really? That's too bad, the demo was awesome...I was hoping for another Return to Castle Wolfenstein single player :/

Basically what he is saying is that this game wasn't Quake. It didn't have big hurly guys throwing gobs of molten lead at you. You couldnt shoot at them with nuclear powered rail guns or fully automatic grenade launchers. You couldnt kill a whole swarm of aliens with nary a scratch. You couldnt light your cigar with your flame thrower.

What he's saying is that he didn't like the game because it was too realistic and had an actual plot.

alright lordnicon thats enough don't give me crap just cause ya know me. Lets settle it on the playin field. And no its not because its like quake 3 I actually didn't like quake three at all. I perfer more realistic games. I just think they could have added some more levels and made the single player longer other wise it is a good game btu not worth the money they are asking for it

I fully agree. One of the best games to come out in a while. Freezdriedhell, you CAN change characters in the multi-player version. As for the maps, it's only a matter of time before the mappers out there start putting out custom maps.

I really like it, but I'm also a WWII history buff. Very realistic visuals and sounds (had all the graphics cranked up on max to see what my GF3 would do and my Xgamer 5.1 sound system was rocking). Guess I had a tougher time making it through than some of you (played it on the medium setting). Took me a lot longer than some have indicated too. The Omaha Beach scene felt like I was inside the first part of the movie "Saving Private Ryan". Best 3D single person shooter I've played in a while.

even if you do have the diff pumped up i still think the game is to short.

The only thing that dissapointed me in this game was the fact they took the grenade sound from Quake 2 and applied it to the german grenades. Throw one on concrete and it'll bring back some fraggin memories.

this was actually everything that i DIDN'T like about wolfenstein. while the wolf multiplayer excells, i like the MOHAA single player a LOT more. no unrealistic monsters to fight, no impossible bosses to get rid of. think about it, like in a battle, there'd be one guy that was harder to kill than the others. sure, there were some tanks and halftracks we had to kill in MOHAA but no unrealistic "bosses". this game was all about the realism and thats where it excelled. reminded me more of "band of brothers" than "saving private ryan" (except for the beach, of course).

Well put. If you like realistic WWII based games this is the cream of the crop. No doubt about it. This game rocks.

and i downloaded the blood patch from planetmedalofhonor.com and it really takes the game over the top. similar blood effects to wolfenstein, except bodies cannot be vaporized by rockets and lots of machine gun bullets. instead of a cloud of dust when you shoot someone, a red cloud of blood shows up (VERY cool effect). and i agree, for WW2 realism, this game is tops. multiplayer is tight too.

Just try it on Medium setting, tell me if you had it easy on Omaha... Its about the 10th time im trying it, cant get past the tower (when you give cover fire) they'll get you anytime.

Only gripe I had with MOHAA, other than the frequent crashes as a result of my CRAP OS and CRAP RAM, is the whole rambo feel of the game. You can take 5-10 rounds before you go down. I like DOD better, esp. the v2.0 edition. More house to house fighting, more realistic damage models.

I agree, it was pretty dissapointing. The omaha level was probly the only thing I liked about the game otehr than the occasional MP game that wasn't just a nade-spam fest. I mean come on, each german stick grenade weighs what? 3/4 of a pound? and we have guys carrying 6 of em? and a panzershrek? and a BAR? Yeah right!

After reading this post i will wait until the game comes down in price a little, and then buy it.

Crouch down into the hole in the ground, grab the sniper rifle, shoot the two machine gunners.

I agree. I love the game. Storming omaha beach has never been this realistic. I tend to go for real-time games instead o ut, and half life. they are jsut to wierd for me. I like it, I've been waiting for a ww2 1st person shooter for a long ime, and IM glad its here.

MOHAA? Sucked? I just started playing an hour ago and i had a great time. FUN GaME; realism rocks. No cheezy monsters to shoot. I like the plots instead of just running around like a madman. But I'm still a big fan of cs, q3, and especially rtcw.
anyone know how to turn on fps on mohaa?

I agree that it was shorter than expected. i only spent a couple days playing about a couples hours each and got through level 6 already. it is a fine FPS. the realism is ok i guess. i liked all the WWII era weapons. the graphics is great. try it if you havent yet.

Yep. Great game that has quite the abrupt ending. Finished both Easy and Medium. Working on Hard right now. Gotta get All the medals, ya know?
For those nay-sayers, just chill. There will be more mods, new maps etc. in no time. (Just look at the number of mod's already out. Granted, no maps yet. Key word is yet.)
For the guy that said he liked DODv2 because of the house to house stuff, d/l The All Seeing Eye. Best way to find MOH games. Choose team play or death match. There are several maps that have city/town settings where there's plenty of door to door service.
IMHO, good to great game that will only improve as the mod community gathers speed.........:burn:

Try DFLW deltaforcelandwarrior if you dont like mohaa. As far the rest of you guys my squad [im in SEAL] has an anti cheat patch and there constantly working on patches to fight these lamers that ruin games and were also creating more maps not sure what we have as i have not got the game yet [im the last one as im still playing dflw.] www.dfeseal.cjb.net might have a look not sure what you'll find.

i still have to say running up omaha beach was very realistic... getting a lil feel of how those poor soldiers felt as then basically got mowed down.....

comparing MOHAA to RTCW is impossible, MOH is miles beyond it. I played the RTCW demo, and didn't even finish the first level because I was so bored. I just finished the first mission in MOH (med diff.) and it blew me away. The people get medkits, the ai doesn't get stuck, the sound kicks ass, i can max out the graphics on my GF2ti, the guns feal "real", and it was fun in a way that no game has been for a while! Worth the money!!

I have Medal of Honor. So far I think it is cool. Who cares if there is no boss? What do you want? Kill Hitler in the end?

Puer Aeternus
02-19-02, 10:15 PM
I am a Q3 fan along w/ RTCW and I like the change of pace that MOHAA brings. It is like DOD on steroids and I feel shame for anybody who after playing MOH would still rather play DOD....bury Half Life and all those mods, they had their day in the sun.
Just curious all, my system is listed below and I play MOH w/ the all the eye candy turned on and FSAAx4 w/ resolution set at 1280x1024 and the game runs smooth...I am using a overclocked Elsa Gladiac GF2-32 meg.....whats w/ all the hype w/ new vid cards when this GF2 is playing all my games at the highest resolutions and no slow down. Do we really need to run out and get a GF4 just to get a higher 3d2001 score?

I might get Medal of Honour, but i want to know if the internet multiplayer for it is as good as Wolfenstein.
because Wolfenstein multiplayer is great

if it is then its mine :D

I love MOH multiplay...if you like DOD than you will wet yourself over MOH multiplay.
I have been playing on Omaha(obj/team3) map steady for a week now...I have yet to check out the other maps.
A few mods are popping up and there are loads of servers...the lag is nowhere as bad as the Stalingrad demo was.
I hate the interface forfinding servers...but that is a small complaint....I think you will not be dissapointed....I liked RTCW as well.

Niloc
02-21-02, 11:24 PM
Why dont you like the interface for finding servers...granted you cant just look for round based games or what ever...but you can still click the top headings and sort the list by whatever you want..I think its easy to find servers

surfinguru
02-22-02, 10:59 AM
If you're searching for servers using LameSpy, go here and download the All Seeing Eye:

No annoying popup ads, searching w/filters, etc., etc., etc. Miles beyong that Lamespy "stuff"

how many levels are there for MOH multiplayer?

Good SP game, too short.
It was about half of a game. I suppose that they are gonna bring out as expension pack with MP(with out game spy) and more missions. Makeing us spend more money:mad:
