Tracking Internet Usage

I'm sure missed good solutions, but I want to track my computer's total internet usage. The real reason is that there has been discussion of getting a 2GB data plan and I want to know exactly how far that will get me based on my normal computer usage over a month. Are there any programs (preferably free) that could track this?

I would have to say probably the easiest way to track your internet usage is by utilizing the bandwidth features in your router. I know DD-WRT and Tomato have bandwidth tracking features, but not too sure about the exact router you are using. What router do you have?
