Hey guys....I'm wondering if there is a way for CEs to see what kind of traffic their articles attract? It would be a nice feature to have if not ;)

The editors have access to google analytics, but I'm not very proficient with it.

If I read it right, your article has had >250 visits, but I cant read if that is total, or people who came directly to the site via that specific article (e.g. google search).

Yeah i read it wrong, it's actually 1500 views.

Your latest article has had 1588 visits by those who aren't logged into wordpress.

Wordpress stats is installed, but only admins have access to it I believe. I looked, but don't see any options for granting access on a per user basis. If its possible to delegate access, I would have no problem sharing the info with you. Other than that, I don't mind you asking for anything you are interested in.

I make it about 11,000.

Some URL somewhere links it as http://www.overclockers.com/foo/ and another as http://www.overclockers.com/foo//. Each shows about 5.5k.

About that, it's gotten slightly stronger lately and may continue to grow as its recommended across more and more sites... I'd say the second half of the year for the article will be better than the first.

EDIT: Thideras - 876 for the dell perc 5i article

@Tr we use 2.9.2 also and we have stats enabled as kind of an incentive. What it does is make the author strive for better quality and allows the to see what the public likes the most. It can allow for more and better posts.

What it can also do is spurn competition. If an author can't get hold of the latest and greatest products yet they want to get a good hit count the author will improve content.

My 2 cents.

I brought this up in the CE meeting we had back in May because I used to have access to the stats, but one day it seemed to just disappear. Unless I was mislabeled as an admin to begin with, then there must is a way to grant access. I thought it was nice to see what type of article are being read so we could focus on getting more of the same quality articles published.

Any tips on delegating access to WP stats archer?

I remember you mentioning that Matt, and I looked and never got anywhere because I don't know why it went away.

I can try and find out. I was just thinking I may have spoken too soon:( It may be a plug-in.

WPStats is a plugin, and we have it, but i'm not sure why certain people cannot see it. i thought it was available to all who have back-end access

I know everyone had access in the past

I was off a little, only Admin's, Editor's and Author's have access @ tR.

Its not working for editors or authors here.

I'm guessing its probably some sort of conflict between the rolescoper plugin and the stats plugin. We use rolescoper to restrict rights, ensuring authors and CEs can't hit the publish button and a lead editor has to approve anything before it shows up on the site.

Something about that must be breaking people's access to stats, unless they are admins in which case they have all rights.

I would think that my Dashboard should display all of my posts past and present....but although it does show a count of many I've completed, I cannot even pull them up or anything. Not sure if it's supposed to be that way or not.

My dashboard doesn't display any of my articles except recent drafts, nor a count that I can see. The only way I've found my articles is by searching for my name on the site. :)

Its supposed to be that way because once articles are published you no longer have rights to edit or change them directly. It ensures the article we publish today will still be available in ten years in mostly the same condition.

I was told in the past we would have author pages, where things like past articles and other information could be summarized for each writer on the site. That never happened. We could still do it, but it'd be a manual sort of process.

MIAHALLEN

So Matt, can we designate someone to manually perform this task? If that's what it'll take....if nobody else wants it, I'd be willing to work on it for a while (but I'm doing mine first :p)

The coming soon thing is an automatic sort of thing, it will link past articles automatically and it will present information from your wordpress profile (biography field).

Only question mark right now is when - I was told it would likely come last week, so I was hoping for this week and we're half way through it now. Maybe this week or next if we're lucky. Development time is pretty hard to get a piece of - lots of sites under the inet umbrella.

I've just put out a fresh feeler on the eta for that and will let you know when I hear back.

It did make it into the development sprint for this week, so by end of day friday something should be in place. Not sure if it will be in production/live on the site however - could be next week by the time its made live on the site. The code is being customized and worked into the site now. :)

Sure is, although I thought it was going to be automatically linked from the author name under the article title. I am checking on that. Currently, the author name under the article title links to whatever you have input into your homepage information, if anything.

Here's an example of the page:
http://www.overclockers.com/author/i.m.o.g./
http://www.overclockers.com/author/earthdog/

If you want a picture like mine, you have to do it through gravatar.com using a wordpress.com account. Not sure how that works exactly, took me a bit to get it figured out.
