i am just wondering which one will have the a better edge over other in terms of cooling ability? let us assume it is Antec SX1040 verus Lian-Li PC-60, both with 4 fans and same psu, and needless to say, same setup. please help me, for my head is hurting pretty bad just try to decide.

I have the antec, and have been very pleased with it. My temps went down by 12 degrees as soon as I shifted to it! I gues that goes more to point that the previous case was not very good... Still I guess at that point it's more a matter of taste?

yeah, i gave you my proof, i don't think it will.

some people say it helps, some say it doesn't, i don't think it will, doesn't seem like it would be significant at any rate.

nonetheless, i have just ordered a lian li for myself, so we shall see when it arrives:)

Most of the heat removed from a case does so by air moving through the case. The biggest factor with size is the ability to work inside easily, dress the airflow-disrupting cables out of the way and availability of fan openings. What metal the case is made of effects the overall weight, the electrical conductivity of the mating surfaces and lastly, to some degree, the aluminum case will get rid of a little bit more heat, all other dimensions being equal. For those three attributes, I would not pay the additional $100 cost difference between the PC-60 with Antec 400W PSU and that Antec 1040.

I went from an Antec SX840 to an aluminum Coolermaster cause I wanted the look of the case. Temps in both were the same. The Antecs are heavy as hell and my new rig is very light. Very nice when you are always lifting it. Trust me, the temp differences are negligible.

o yeah i gotta agree with Hoot, it isn't worth 100 bucks. Buuuuttt . . . if you happen to be able to get someone else to pay for half of it or you happen to have the money lying around, its cool.

It depends on what your looking for. If you have the money, and it's gonna be used at LAN parties, I'd say Aluminum, simply because it's light and looks good. If it's gonna stay put alot, or your on a budget, go with the 1040. My $.02
