View Full Version : installing geforce2 pci .help!!!
I hope someone can help me.I just bought a visiontek geforce2 mx400 pci card.My MOBO is a pcchips m758lmr which has a built in agp card but no other agp slots.I emailed pcchips and asked how I could disable this card and install the mx400 pci. After many days I recieved an email saying I should install the new card then reboot ,go into my BIOS and change my settings from agp to pci.The problem is that when I install the mx400 my agp card won`t work (neither will my mx400) so with no monitor I can`t change any settings. If anyone has some advice on this I`d sure like to hear it. Also they recommended that I go into my BIOS after rebooting, can someone tell me how to do this I don`t see any prompt when my computer is starting up.There is a manual that I can get online for my MOBO but for some reason I can`t open the file when I download it.This is very frustrating and any help would be greatly appreciated Rufus
Remove the PCI card & boot up using the onboard video. Press the Delete key until the bios setup pages appears. Go into PCI / Plug and Play Setup Page & change the Primary Graphics Adapter to PCI & Allocate IRQ to PCI VGA to Yes. Save changes & exit. Shutdown the computer & install the PCI card & plug in the monitor lead. Swith on again & with any luck it'll work correctly.

If the "Delete" key does not work to enter the BIOS, try F1. Some mobos use F1 for BIOS. Other than that I agree totally.
Thanks for the replies.I have tried many times to reboot my computer and using both the del and f1 keys go into my BIOS settings .For some reason this will not bring it up. Is there any other way to access my BIOS settings thanks Rufus
When you hit the DEL or F1 key, are you holding it down, hitting once, or continuously hitting the key during system start-up? As soon as you see something on the monitor when you turn the PC on, start hitting the DEL or F1 key and it should go into the bios setup screens
thanks again guys,I was not holding down the del key,now I adjusted my settings but still when I install my gf2 pci card I get no response on my monitor untill I take out the pci card again.Lucky me ,pcchips tells me I should consult visiontek and visiontek suggests I contact pcchips.thanks again at least I learned how to access my bios settings tonight.I think I`ll drink some beer and take another run at this tomorrow.
