Just read @ anandtech that GeForce4 Ti4200 - the one with the attractive $200 MSRP price tag won't be released for 2 more months. Guess NVidia wants to get rich peddling the crappy MX's and the expensive Ti4400's and Ti4600's and keep GeForce3 prices from falling too much before they introduce this bargain GeForce4 Ti model. All I got to say is DAMN YOU NVIDIA!

Guess I'll be sticking with my current card too. It's a.... TNT. No, I'm not kidding. Actually it's exactly this kind of martketing that prevented me from ever upgrading: whenever something new came along, I thought it was too expensive, so I'd wait. But by the time the prices dropped down I felt that the technology became obsolete and I didn't want it anymore.
So, I'm still running my trusty old TNT. Got it for ~$100 back in the days when 3dfx was still king, and NVidia was just begining to break into the market. It was the fastest thing on the block too. And you know what? I can still play Max Payne @1024x768x16 Medium Detail smoothly with it.

I agree with you totally. The problem is you have to take that leap forward one day or another...:p I myself actually stuck with my Voodoo2 until like a month ago, when I finally decided to give my system a minor kick forward by buying a GF2MX-200.....at $45 I thought it was a good deal.

Since then my employer has provided me with my new rig, and the TI200 that came with it. I wont be buying a new card anywhere soon, that's for sure.....I'm just happy to get a bad*** machine..... Let us all pray that Nvidia doesn't get like Microsoft......I applaud ATI fans for buying their cards and keep the competition going....

uh, I thought *all* GF4 cards are going to be released in March? If just the 4200 is released then, it is because that card was a response purely to the 8500LE, and it's just starting production, so won't be stockable for a while.

Actually, I'm just finding out it's not even in the official NVidia lineup yet. So it may not be released at all or have its specs changed for the worse. I'm guessing they want to see how the sales go and if they can beat ATI with what they already got without releasing a GeForce4 Ti card at such a low price point. Grrr

I think that NVIDIA is getting way ahead of themselves.
I just bought the GF3 in OCT and have it clocked higher than most Ti versions.
I have only seen 2 demos of games that even support some of the features of the GF3. If none of the games that have come out or are coming out take advantage of the GF3, why the hell would I get a GF4.
Although, I wouldn't mind getting a new latop with the GF4 in it.

Exactly. And not only are they getting ahead of themselves, but they are actually screwing faster adoption of vertex and pixel shaders in games b/c the GF4MX will be "mainstream" and has no shaders. Game devs have enough problems releasing products that are relatively bug-free, let alone wasting time and $$ programming to utilize shaders. So an even larger portion of the market will have no shaders. I expect to see them fully utilized (as in required) in about 1.5-2 years. Unless I am mistaken and vertex/pixel shaders can also run DX7 and 8 fixed-function T&L commands?
