Connected Users

What is the easiest way to go about telling who is connected to a large network? I am running off of Widows Server 2008 and need to push updates to all the computers connected. The problem is that some have not been connected for a while are coming up on a report. I will have to manually track those computers to push the update. If the program/command could also tell the last user that was connected to the computer that would be awesome.

Any thoughts or suggestions? If you need additional info I will be happy to try and provide as I am not horribly experienced in this area. :shrug:
