Ok,

I currently have an intel atom 330 box with 2gb of ram and 700gb HD running ubuntu as a file server and web server.

via student msdn, i now have licenses for windows server 2008 r2, sql server 2008, and exchange server 2010 and 2007.

obviously that is all overkill for a simple home network, but if anyone has any ideas its always fun to mess around with.

i have a hauppauge usb pvr laying around somewhere. I am getting a new house and am trying to figure out how i want things laid out. an htpc is definitely something to consider

also wouldn't mind being able to vpn into my network from anywhere.

just tossing things around
