Is the heatsink clearance the same for a Athlon XP as compared to an older Thunderbird? Thanks for your help.

You could..... but if the HS is stock AMD it may be a little too small for any reasonable temps.

Thanks for your help. I thought I read somewhere that the clearances were slightly different. I currently have the Taisol CGK742092.

Yes you should be able to run an EP with that cooler.

The clearance is so minuscule it shouldnt be a problem.
