i'm getting random reboots. CPUID and uGuru are showing vcore fluctuations (load) 1.49-1.52v when set to 1.525 and 1.50-1.56v when set to 1.55.
i have a new power supply (Corsair VX550W) and all voltages on that are great.

so can anyone tell me what mosfet legs to test the memory and CPU?

thanks

Those voltages are normal...

The difference between what you set the bios at vs what you see in windows (cpuz) is called vdrop.

WHen you then put a load in windows and that voltage drops further, thats calleed vdroop.

Some boards have options to prevent that. Its called load line calibration on some boards.

I doubt its the PSU and coltages that need testing. Are you overclocked?

ok after wrapping the + probe on my multimeter with black tape i found the VCore mosfet
it's Q25. i would upload a pic but my digicam is borked.

my findings

1.525v set in bios
Idle
CPUID 1.505-1.547v
Multi 1.493-1.507v

Load
CPUID 1.505 with little dips to 1.492
Mulit 1.491v

==============
1.55v set in bios
Idle
CPUID 1.547-1.56v
Multi 1.523

Load
CPUID 1.505-1.519v
Mulit 1.502v

==============
1.57V set in bios

Idle
CPUID 1.574-1.588v
Multi 1.543v

load
CPUID 1.533-1.547v
Mulit 1.524v

the onboard sensors read high and are much more erratic than the multimeter results.
the board undervolts (no surprise).

i think the memory controller on the board might be holding me back.
used to run NP with 2x256 BH-5 @ 292 FSB 5:4
since switching to 2x512 BH-5 sticks i cant clock as high even tho they clock just as good 1:1

bumping the northbridge from 1.5 to 1.55v and the VCore to 1.55v has helped but i'm still getting random reboots when stressed.
i may try upping the northbridge to 1.6v and see if that helps.

Its not a voltage sag issue. It is likely a voltage issue as in not enough for stablity but I doubt the vdrop/vdroop has anything to do with unless its a new addition.

thanks. i'm going to keep playin with it. trying 1.57v VCore to see if it helps.

[edit] that did the trick. she's rock solid stable. thanks again :) [/edit]
