Ok I've been working on quieting down my case and I finally ordered some dynamat. I also got a digital doc 5 to control my case fans. I'll tell you how it works out when everything arrives next week.

I think what I'm eventually going to do is put a layer of heavy foam over the dynomat.

one question do fan filters quiet down fans?

I 7volted the 2 antec 80mm case fans I had, as well as the 60mm delta 38 close.. and changed the fan in the antec power supply to a quieter one.. it helped SO much.. only a few degrees C up in across the board

MY PC is pretty quiet, oh wait it's turned off...

But I digress...

Filters DO muffle sound but they also muffle airflow (a teensy bit).
Grommet mounting everything can make a noticable difference, especially fans that wer formerly attached to the case itself.
Unfortuantely case windows add alot of noise becuase they reverberate sound more effectively than aluminum or steel.

The easiest and cheapest solutions is simply to shuffle around where you have all your fans to find what parts in the case produce less sound. Adding ducting to any front intakes might help also.
The further a fan is away from the outside of the case, the less noise it will make.

yea i just added my dvd drive so i'm using 3 ide ribbons. 4 if you count the fd ribbon. i'm thinking of going to rounded cables to improve airflow. it might reduce the noise a bit too.
