ok quick question... but first an overview of the network for reference (SEE ATTACHED IMAGE)

and for a explanation on the config... comcasts voip modems dont use doscis 3 which means my 50mbps speeds would be useless which is why i use a seperate modem for VOIP and Internet without any complications.

but anyways

I have Static IPs set for

2 Xbox 360s (1 working 1 getting fixed)
1 Server pc
1 Office pc
2 Laptop (1 wired 1 wireless)
1 Blackberry
1 PSP

now do I need to set a static IP for the Switch? or does that not matter at all?

On the box it has a MAC so I just put it as a static but didnt know if it needed it.

I don't think you need to specify an IP for the switch. Unless the switch is managed, and has its own control panel.

The switch probably gave its internal facing port an IP automatically, something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1

The external IP for the switch is usually set by dhcp in a situation like you are describing. Your switch will automatically grab an IP from comcast.

So no you don't need to, and in most cases shouldn't set any IP addresses statically for your switch.
