View Full Version : AGP Clock speed? GF3 Artifacts?

I'm going to try and overclock my cpu further by raising the FSB on my board. I was running @ 133fsb, and that put the AGP clock speed @ 88.6Mhz. Now I'm running @ 140fsb, so that puts the AGP @ 93.3Mhz.
Everything seems fine now, but my next fsb is 150. That would put the AGP bus @ 100Mhz.
I barely have my GF3 overclocked right now (205/475), but I'm worried about running it on the AGP bus @ 100Mhz, when normal AGP runs at 66Mhz. Sould I worry? And how much would it affect my ability to o/c the GF3?
Last Q, what are some artifacts seen when you've o/c the vid card too much?
I also have a BE6 & i'm running a PIII 650@910. I don't have a GeForce3 but a GeForce2 & it boots into Windows OK at 150FSB. However, when i try to run any games i get booted back to Windows. Hope you have better success.

AGP GFX cards are generally really good about handleing extra fsb speed. They arent effected nearly as much as pci cards. Most likely you would hit your max OC or a PCI card would cause you to hit a wall before your GFX card did. Hope this helps.
happy clockin'!

Running the AGP bus at 100MHz should be fine (especially since you're using a GF3). I ran a P3 700@980 for months on both a CUBX and CUV4X using the same GF2 that's in my sig. without problems.
AFA artifacts, normally you'll see tearing and/or flashing textures (when the card is OC'ed too high) like when raising the "Mipmapping LOD Bias" adjustment to a higher level than what your card can handle...when using D3D in games or benches. When OC'd past this, normally games and/or benches will send you back to the desktop or lock up.;)

I read somewhere that GF2s o/c better then GF3s in regard to the AGP bus speed, so I'm not surprised that there isn't much problem. And I too am currently running my 700a@980. :D

I sometimes (but rarely) get some flashing wall segment textures in RTCW, but thats been happening since the betas. I figure that its just a random graphics bug. No lock ups or dumps in any game so far either, so I must be ok.
