View Full Version : Has anyone used the Blorb and mounted on the mobo using the actual clips?
I looked over my A7M today. Glanced at the chipset cooler. Wanted to enhance it so I though I'd maybe put a blorb on. Just for a double check I turned off the system. Put my blorb over the chipset cooler, the pins look like they fit exactly in. Last time I did this the pins never matched.
My chipset is a AMD 761 if that helps.
If not my alternative would possibly to keep the remaining chipset cooler!
Yodums
Well, after using an orb on video cards and chipsets alike, my friend and I have determined that orbs are just big daddies. Hey, you get a nice fan, and really, does size really matter?
Actually, I had to take Arctic Alumina off and re-do the orb on my GeForce 2 (yes, haha, laugh all you want) because the dang crorb was just so huge
Good luck.

Yodums, don't make the same mistake I did. I went crazy with my orbs and bought a couple of them for my box. All of them installed fine except for the one for my northbridge. I have the 8KHA+ and there are two capacitors in the way. To fit the orbs (53mm dia. for the blorb 54mm for the corb) onto my chipset, I'd have to mod off a few of the fins. I posted about this problem and I'm going to borrow a picture that was sent to me in reply from urbanski.

Even though the pins would line up, the fan was simply too big for the area I had available. Urbanski took off a few fins and bent the fan blades a little to put his on the same board I have.
Moral of the story: Make sure you have 54mm+ clearance from the center of the chip before purchasing an orb for your chipset.
Hope this helps.
Hey shmuck, how is that working for you? Did you do any more overclocking yet?
