I have been running synergy for a few years to share my mouse and keyboard between two computers. Recently, one of the computers was replaced, but it is essentially the same, running windows xp. the host computer is running windows 7. Sometimes they connect right away and some times it takes them hours of "connection timed out" then will randomly connect. This lag in connecting seems to happen whenever I restart one of the computers, and restarting them again doesn't fix the problem. I have no firewall software on either computer. Both can see each other on the network, and I can ping both. I can't think of anything else that might be causing this. any ideas?

That is very strange. Have you tried completely killing all processes and services (if installed) on both stations and starting them manually? I used this for quite awhile and never had this issues (XP -> Vista, 7 -> Vista or 7 -> XP). Different versions? Try a reinstall of the program?

so weird. it just reconnected randomly without me doing anything. but now the mouse on the client is very laggy. never had that happen before.

edit: fixed the lag, i had DEBUG2 set as the log level. changed it back to warning and it's back to normal. I can kill and restart the server and the client reconnects instantly now too...so odd.

in another strange twist, it was connected all night and this morning up until 5 minutes ago when it randomly decided to disconnect again. I have no idea what the issue is.

I'm honestly not sure what to suggest other than completely removing both versions (and configs), then starting over and using the same install file. Do they have support on SourceForge? It may be a bug.

The only issues I had with Synergy is when I added a way to get to the second computer, but didn't add a way to get back to the first!
