I have a problem here i after fianly getting everything working on my comp i started to overclock my new geforce 3 ti 200. After looking at what other peoples scores are i fell cheeted. After overclocking it to 220/460 i only get around 4800. When i did everything at default no overclocking i only get around 4500. Any ideas why im not seeing an improvement in my score?
Thanx

Hmmm... ok... first a dumb question :D Do you have vsync enabled?
Don't have AA enabled do you? And whats your fsb? 3dmark2k1 scores really impove with higher fsb's... What about drivers for the vid card and chipset (if you have a via chipset)?
RainMaqer may you feel somewhat overwhelmed but he is right. The environment must be set up. There is more as well such as bios settings that enhance the performance. The idea is not to cheat but to run your computer in an environment that is optimum for everyday use.

What Detonators are you using? I have found the fastest ones yet to be the new 23.12's with Win2k Pro and my Ti200. Also, what resolution do you run 3DMark at? Try setting your AGP apeture to 128MB in your BIOS (I didn't see an improvement on my machine going above that with 512MB RAM). Also, does your board support AGP4x? If so, enable it. I would say you "should" be at least in the low 6000's with your CPU and Ti200 at default speeds at 1024x768. Raising the FSB and overclocking the video card will give you huge improvements. I went from an original score of 6,851 after assembling my PC, up to 8,792 with a few hours of tweaking, so don't lose hope.

i have the latest drivers, and i am running 3DMark at default settings. But i am a bit new at the whole bios thing. I know how to get into them but am unsure of what to do when im in there. I have read some of the things on overclockers but when i go inot my bios i don't know what to look for. And unfourtunatly i have a Gateway so i have no manual to help me out. I f you could point me in the right direction, like a site with help or help from you that would be great. All i need is a little direction and im more than willing to go the rest of the way myself. Thanx for the help

I had the same problem with my Radeon 32 meg ddr card and it was due to fast writes not being enabled in the bios. Once they were enabled i went from 2700 to 3200 in 3DMark 2001. Not real high but a definate improvement over my MX200 lol.

www.guru3d.com is about as good as it gets for drivers, bios, utilities.
You'll want to play around with bios to get the highest possible throughput on the fsb as well. Use sisoft and test, test, test.

I spent 3 days tweaking my system, and I got an increase of 1367 marks. Overall, I got the best boosts from FSB increases and from GPU engine boosts. Try leaving you box up all night with a batch run on 3DMark. You very quickly find out how well your machine will run different effects (AA and the like) and this helps you choose what you want to disable. My fast writes (from disabled to enabled) only provided a piddly 20-30 marks for my score. That kind of deviation is insignificant statistically. Your system can vary little bits like that day to day.
One thing I certainly noticed, though. The day I ducted from the snow to my box, my temps dropped 12-15C and my score went up 200 just for that extra cooling. What sort of cooling are you using on your rig?
Like the man said "Tweak it!"

That score would be about right with AA enabled don't you think. Check on it.
