I run mobo monitor with my water and though it may not be really accurate it does seem to be consistant with air and water. There is something strange going on, I will give you that. The water does run cooler. The ability of the water to absorb more heat at times does not really lower my temps much but allows me to run at a speed that I can not with air. I'm sure you know that you are fine at 45c. Now when the air in the house is drier, the bong will really go to work and the temps will be reflected on the chip.

You will probably loose a couple more degrees as the thermal grease heats up and seats.
