ive got a bust/kink in the cord near the brick and wanted to know, is it possible to cut the wire and splice it back together so it works again?

Possible? Yes
Safe? That depends on you.

If I were doing it and the break was far enough from the brick I would do an in-line splice (http://www.instructables.com/id/Master-a-perfect-inline-wire-splice-everytime/) that I would then solder. With the connection made I would cover each splice in heat shrink then bundle both connections under another piece of heat shrink.
