hi all,

another game that i have got problems with...it always seems to be me.

cod5 - thought i had an illegal copy of the game and wouldnt let me install patches

all splinter cells have no sound and crackle all the time

mass effect 2 said i didnt have the right disc in when i just put disc 2 in

fallout 3 - froze, bsod'd, and took ages of problem solving to install

basically all the games i get i have trouble with -

and now to my latest game - DIRT 2.

i start the installation process and all i get after 1/4 of the way through install
is some sort of data2 error cant find some file.

im going to install again 2day all tell you guys the actual error.

i tried to copy the contents of the disc to my HDD to run install off that - and it stops copying at the same point and can't move this file - i can't 7zip it to move the manually because it gets to a certain point then stops due to this file that is either bad or can't be moved or read.

i've got a few things to try first - i'm going to uninstall the demo - which is on the same HDD - dont know if it'll help
and update the GFWL client from microsoft.

any other tips or have you had this problem (doubt it!) should i just buy another disc?

thanks all

btw - win XP - 32bit

Those errors do sound like a corrupted file on the install disc, although in my experience this is uncommon these days. Report back to us the exact error, but you may want to return the game tot he vendor for a replacement.

please don't buy another disk and reward them for the poor job they did at that game. I spent all day tracking down a "bug" in dirt 2 that was crashing the game at start. Only suggestion I can think of is make sure you don't have a dvd drive emulator running.
